1. The efficacy and function of Toona sinensis

1. A basic introduction to Chinese toon

Toona sinensis is native to china, distributed in the north and south of the yangtze river, for meliaceae, deciduous trees, dioecious plants, leaves are even pinnate compound leaves, panicles, bisexual flowers white, fruit is an elliptic capsule, wing-like seeds, seeds can reproduce. Tall tree, in addition to food for Chinese toon buds, but also the preferred species of landscaping. Chinese toon sprouts are rich in nutrition and have therapeutic effects. They are mainly used for treating exogenous cold, rheumatism, pain, stomachache, dysentery, etc.

(5) astringent blood to stop diarrhea, stop collapse

Toona sinensis can dry dampness, clear heat, astringent, can be used for chronic diarrhea, intestinal hemorrhoids, hematochezia, metrorrhagia and other diseases.

3. Nutritional Value of Toona sinensis

Toona sinensis leaves are rich in protein, carbohydrates, vitamin B, vitamin C, carotene and a large number of volatile oil and phosphorus, iron and other minerals, a variety of nutrients are more comprehensive, balanced.

4. The purchase of Chinese toon

When buying Chinese toon: to see the color green, fragrant, non-rotten Chinese toon is good.

5. Storage of Chinese toon

Toona sinensis should be waterproof, not exposed to the sun, placed in a cool and ventilated place, can be stored for 1-2 days.

2. Edible method of Chinese toon

Toona sinensis contains nitrate and nitrite, the content is much higher than that of ordinary vegetables; the protein content in Toona sinensis is higher than that of ordinary vegetables, and there is also the risk of generating carcinogen nitrosamine, so eating Toona sinensis has potential safety hazard. So, how can we eat safe and nutritious Chinese toon? The following principles may be followed:

1. Choose the most tender Chinese toon buds.

It was found that the nitrate and nitrite contents of Toona sinensis in different regions, varieties and growth periods were different. The most important thing is that the nitrate content in the early germination stage of Toona sinensis is low, and the nitrate content increases with the growth of Toona sinensis buds. By mid-April, nitrate levels in Toona sinensis buds exceeded WHO and FAO standards in most areas. That is to say, the more tender the Chinese toon bud, the less nitrate it contains, and the less nitrite it will produce in future storage.

2. Choose the freshest Chinese toon sprouts.

The determination also showed that after the middle of April, although the nitrate content in Toona sinensis buds increased, the nitrite content was still low. Therefore, if you eat fresh Chinese toon sprouts, it will not cause nitrite poisoning. However, after harvesting, during storage at room temperature, a large amount of nitrate will be converted into nitrite, thus posing a safety hazard. The so-called high nitrite content of Chinese toon buds is precisely such a reason.

That is to say, fresh Chinese toon buds picked from trees are safe to eat immediately, while Chinese toon buds purchased from the market, because they have already undergone the transportation process, the nitrite content will greatly increase. If it is time for the leaves to fall off, a large amount of nitrite must be produced.

3. Blanching removes nitrate and nitrite

If the Chinese toon bud is not fresh enough, but the fragrance is still there, it is a pity to throw it away, then it may as well blanch it. Blanching in boiling water for about 1 minute can remove more than two-thirds of nitrite and nitrate, and can also better preserve the green color of Toona sinensis. Whether it is cold mix, stir-fried dish or fried Chinese toon fish, you may wish to blanch it first, which can greatly improve the safety of eating Chinese toon. Since the aroma components of Chinese toon mainly come from essential oil, which is insoluble in water, blanching will not significantly affect the flavor of dishes.

4. Blanch it before freezing.

Toona sinensis is a seasonal vegetable. Many people like to freeze it and eat it every year. However, the Chinese toon should also be blanched before freezing. Research data show that freezing after blanching for 50 seconds not only greatly improves safety, but also vitamin C is better preserved. After frozen for 2 months, the vitamin C content of blanched Chinese toon was 71% of that of fresh Chinese toon, while that of unblanched Chinese toon was only 35%. At the same time, whether it is color or flavor, it is more ideal to blanch and re-freeze. Blanched, put into sealed plastic bags, put in the refrigerator quick-frozen compartment, can be stored for more than 1 month, keep the tender green and aromatic characteristics.

5. Don't take too long to pickle Chinese toon sprouts. Many people like to salt Chinese toon for two or three days before eating, which is a very unsafe habit. Because after the Chinese toon is pickled, the content of nitrite will rise rapidly, reaching a peak in three or four days (when the salt content is 10%~20%), and the content far exceeds the allowable standard. Blanching and pickling can greatly reduce the nitrate content, which also reduces the risk of marinating Chinese toon, but the safest way is to marinate the blanched Chinese toon for a week and eat it after the nitrite content is reduced. Adding vitamin C, tea and other ingredients can reduce the nitrite content in pickling.

6. Toona and vitamin C-rich foods should be eaten together. Toona sinensis itself vitamin C content is higher than ordinary vegetables and fruits, if you can eat fresh Toona sinensis, vitamin C can help block the formation of carcinogen nitrosamines. If Chinese toon is not fresh enough, eat it with other fresh vegetables and fruits to avoid the hidden dangers of nitrite as much as possible. Studies have shown that when the molar ratio of vitamin C and nitrite is 2:1, it can block the synthesis of nitrosamine carcinogens very well.

In a word, sprouts, fresh food, blanching, slow pickling, can ensure the safety of eating Chinese toon.

III. Planting techniques of Toona sinensis

1. Fast sleep completion. In late October, after Chinese toon leaves fall, seedlings should be raised in time. When seedlings are raised, lateral roots should be taken. The taproot should not be less than 40 cm, and the lateral roots should not be less than 30 cm. The Chinese toon should be divided into three levels according to its high, middle and short height.(1.5m, 1m and 0.5m respectively), place the graded Chinese toon in the shade for false planting, cultivate soil, irrigate water and cover the grass cover. The grass cover should be watered frequently to prevent the seedlings of Chinese toon from drying, and pay more attention to the root system not to be exposed, so it is difficult to slow down the seedlings. After about 20 days, Chinese toon will complete the dormancy period.

2. Shed and soil preparation. In late October, the shed is closed, 15000 kg of high-quality decomposed human and livestock manure or chicken manure, 50 kg of compound fertilizer and 10 kg of urea are applied per mu, the soil is deeply turned for 30-40 cm, so that the soil and fertilizer are evenly mixed, and then the soil is leveled to form a north-south ridge with a width of 1.2-1.5 meters, and the ridge width is 30 cm and the height is 15-20 cm.

3. Cultivation time and cultivation method. Transplant dormant seedlings into greenhouses in the middle of November, plant them from north to south according to the height of seedlings, bury the roots 5-10 cm higher than the stem base, cultivate the density of 100 plants per square meter, water immediately after planting, cover soil and righting in time if there are exposed roots and lodging phenomena, and then spray gibberellin to induce early germination.

4. Reproductive period management. Suitable temperature and humidity in shed are main factors for high yield of Toona sinensis. The greenhouse temperature should be kept at about 25℃ during the day and not lower than 15℃ at night. After starting to enter the shed, in order to slow down the seedlings, the light should not be too strong during the day, and the straw curtain should be put down at noon, and then lifted when it is slightly weaker. At noon on a sunny day, ventilation is also needed to cool down. In the late winter season, to timely cover the grass, pay attention to greenhouse insulation, if the night temperature is too low to pay attention to heating. The method of heating is to put a thermos bottle every 15-20 meters, which can not only increase the temperature but also increase the humidity in the shed. During the whole growth period, attention should be paid to maintaining a high humidity in the shed, and it must not be dry. Under good humidity and temperature, Toona sinensis can germinate in about half a month, and can grow to 20-30 cm in about January. At this time, it can be harvested and listed (it is mid-December). After harvesting the first crop, it is necessary to cooperate with watering and flushing quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer, about 10 kg per mu. After more than one month, the second crop will be harvested, just in the middle and late January, and will be listed before the Spring Festival. In this way, two crops can be harvested before the Spring Festival, accounting for two thirds of the yield of the whole growth period, with considerable benefits.
