As we all know, the seeds of many fruits are very good beauty saints, which can be refined or eaten. When eating cantaloupe, the cantaloupe seeds left behind can be used not only for eating but also for planting. So how do cantaloupe seeds grow in pots? Cantaloupe is usually propagated by seeds, so it is necessary to pre-treat the seeds before sowing. Let's take a look at the seed treatment methods of cantaloupe.

I. seed selection and drying of cantaloupe

Put the cantaloupe seeds in a clean place and sift them by hand. Get rid of malformed, moldy, damaged and moth-eaten seeds, and choose Hami melon seeds with uniform and full seeds for use. Spread the selected cantaloupe seeds evenly on clean paper or straw mats and dry them when the weather is clear and sunny. Turn it every 2 hours to let the cantaloupe seeds be exposed to the sun evenly. Through drying, the post-ripening of seeds can be promoted, the vigor of seeds can be enhanced, and the germination rate of Hami melon seeds can be improved. at the same time, ultraviolet rays and higher temperature in sunlight can kill the bacteria carried on Hami melon seeds and reduce the occurrence of diseases transmitted through seeds. and the drier the seeds are in the sun, the faster the speed of water absorption is, which is conducive to seed germination.

Disinfection of cantaloupe seeds

The method of warm soup disinfection is generally used. Add 55-60 ℃ of hot water to a clean porcelain or glass container, and the amount of water should be 5 times of the seed volume. Soak the sun-dried seeds in hot water and stir them gently with a glass stick or wooden stick in the same direction. Add hot water at any time and keep it at a temperature of 55-60 ℃ for 20-30 minutes to fully heat and evenly heat the seeds. Then stir without adding hot water until the water temperature drops to about 28-30 ℃. Remove the seeds, drain the water, and prepare to soak the seeds.

Third, Hami melon seed soaking

Put the sterilized and drained seeds back into the original container, pour in 28-30 ℃ of warm water, and then often add hot water to maintain the temperature of 25-30 ℃. After soaking for 6-8 hours, pour the seeds into a larger container and gently scrub the mucus off the seeds (as the mucus contains substances that inhibit seed germination, it is beneficial to seed germination after scrubbing). After scrubbing the mucus, rinse the seeds with clean water.

Fourth, cantaloupe seeds sprout

Drain the soaked seeds, wrap them with clean wet gauze, and wrap them with clean wet towels to prevent moisture from evaporating. Then spread the seeds evenly at the bottom of the prepared container, insert a thermometer near the seeds in the container, heat up and keep them warm with hot Kang and electric blanket, and often check the temperature of the thermometer to control the temperature between 25 and 28 ℃. During the budding period, the seeds should be turned frequently to remove the carbon dioxide and breathing heat produced by seed respiration, exchange fresh air and supply them with enough oxygen. Under the condition of suitable temperature, it can sprout in about 24 hours, and when the seed begins to show white, it can be sown. When accelerating the bud, try to control the bud to grow within 0.5 cm to prevent the bud from growing too long. When the buds grow too long, they are easy to break when they are planted, which will reduce the emergence rate.
