China Meteorological Administration will carry out pilot forecast of meteorological disasters in facility agriculture.

The reporter learned from the China Meteorological Administration that the pilot project of facility agrometeorological disaster impact forecast will be carried out in the meteorological bureaus of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning and Shandong in the near future. The large facility agriculture households in these five provinces and cities can not only receive conventional weather forecasts, but also obtain forecasts of the impact of meteorological disasters on facility agriculture.

In the pilot provinces and cities, meteorological departments will complete the standardization and sharing of facility agricultural microclimate observation data in view of the impact of meteorological disasters on the production of fruits and vegetables in solar greenhouses, and improve the meteorological disaster critical threshold and index system and forecasting techniques for different risk levels of major meteorological disasters and diseases and insect pests. The pilot meteorological department will also rely on the existing platform to explore the construction of a facility agrometeorological service system with a clear division of labor at the provincial, municipal and county levels. The pilot work lasts for one year, and the China Meteorological Administration has formulated a detailed implementation plan to strengthen guidance to the pilot provinces and cities.
