Chinese cabbage is a perennial perennial root fleshy herb with edible tender stems and leaves. It can be harvested continuously for 20 years after artificial sowing and planting. It is a healthy mountain vegetable. So what are the planting techniques of cabbage? When will it be planted? Is there a time difference between the north and the south?

When will the cabbage be planted? Is there a difference in planting time between the north and the south?

1. Planting time of southern cabbage

From mid-late March to early April, or mid-late May and mid-late September.

2. Planting time of northern cabbage

April to early May or mid-late September to mid-October.

Second, what are the planting techniques of cabbage?

1. Select the place

The sandy loam soil with high content of organic matter is the best, and the low-lying land prone to waterlogging is not suitable for cultivation.

2. Soil preparation and fertilization

Apply about 5000 kg of rotten circle fertilizer and 50 kg of multi-element compound fertilizer for every 15 ha, turning deep and fine rake into a wide border of 1.5 to 2 meters. After that, 40 kg of multi-element compound fertilizer was applied once a year in early spring, and 10 kg of urea was applied after each leaf harvest.

3. Introduction and planting of seedlings

The introduced seedlings will be planted according to the plant spacing of 15 cm, the row spacing of 25 cm and the depth of 5-10 cm. 18000 seedlings should be planted in the area of 15 ha. Water the group tree well and make it the mother garden. After 3 months, pruning and cuttage were used as planting fields. Cabbage was planted in that year, harvested that year, and then entered a high-yielding period the next year, just like leeks.

4. Fertilizer and water management

After planting, topdressing should be applied less frequently, generally once a month or with watering, 10 kg of urea and 3 kg of potassium dihydrogen phosphate per mu. Apply 2000 kg of rotten barnyard manure or 50 kg of ternary compound fertilizer per mu before overwintering or turning green. For each harvest, 10 kg of potassium chloride or 100 kg of plant ash should be applied in time to promote branching and increase yield. If the soil is dry, it should be watered in time, and the water must be watered thoroughly; cabbage should avoid waterlogging, and ditches should be cleared and drained in time in the rainy season.

5. Weeding

Loosen the soil and weed in time every year before overwintering, before turning green in early spring and after each harvest.

6. Overwintering and summer management

For the cabbage cultivated in the open field, 20 days before Frosts Descent, except for keeping the base of the aboveground part of the plant 10 cm, the upper part was completely cut off, watered thoroughly, and covered with a layer of 3-5 cm thick rice straw to survive the winter safely.

7. Harvesting and processing

When the plant height of cabbage is more than 20 cm, it should be harvested in time. There are two harvesting methods, one is unified harvesting, that is, on the basis of leaving most of the branches at the base of 3-4 nodes, the tender stems and leaves are cut horizontally with a sickle, usually every 60 days or so, and the yield per mu is about 4000 kg. Those cultivated in open field can be cut 4 times a year, and those cultivated in protected field can be cut 6 times a year.

Third, the difference between heart-nourishing vegetables and heart-saving vegetables.

1. Leaf difference

The leaves of the cabbage are alternate, narrow lanceolate, ovate-oblanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate, with a length of 3.5 to 8 cm and a width of 1.2 cm to 2 cm. The apex of the leaf gradually becomes pointed, the base is cuneate, and the margin of the leaf is serrate. The leaves are nearly leathery.

The leaves of cabbage are alternate, numerous and oblanceolate, with a length of 5 to 8 cm and a width of 1.5 to 2 cm.

2. Flower difference

Heart-saving cabbage is a Cymes with 5 petals. The color is yellow, the shape is oblong to oval-lanceolate, the length is 6 to 10 mm, with a short point.

Cauliflower is a terminal Cymes, each flower has 5 petals, yellow, the shape is oval lanceolate.
