In recent years, bacterial wilt has become a major disease leading to the death of tomato plants, especially in continuous cropping plots. Ralstonia solanacearum is not easy to find in the early stage, once it appears, the plant wilts quickly and dies soon, resulting in a reduction in yield or even no harvest for growers. Therefore, many growers have a headache and "talk about green change". So, what are the symptoms of bacterial wilt, a common disease of tomato? What are the specific preventive measures?

Symptoms of tomato bacterial wilt

Tomato bacterial wilt usually occurs during flowering and fruit setting, first the top leaves wilt and droop, then the lower leaves wilt, the middle leaves finally wilt, and there are one side of the leaves or the whole leaves wilting at the same time. At the initial stage of the disease, the diseased plants wilted during the day and recovered in the evening, the course of the disease progressed rapidly, and the seriously diseased plants withered in 7-8 days.

The pathogen can develop under the temperature of 10-40 ℃, and the optimum temperature is 30-37 ℃. The disease is easy to occur under the conditions of slightly acidic soil, high temperature and humidity, continuous cropping, low-lying terrain, poor drainage, lack of potassium fertilizer and root damage.

Pathogens are transmitted through Rain Water, irrigation water, underground pests, agricultural operations and so on. It invades from the lenticels or wounds at the base of the host root or stem and expands upward along the vascular bundle, resulting in the blockage of the catheter and the destruction of the whole tissue, resulting in loss of transport function. Stems and leaves wilted due to water imbalance.

II. Preventive measures for tomato bacterial wilt

Tomato bacterial wilt is essentially caused by lack of copper, so the key to prevention and control is to supplement copper. Secondly, the control of bacterial wilt should prevent the spread of running water. if there are plants with bacterial wilt, remember that they should not be flooded, and the infected plants should be removed from the shed, buried or burned first. And pay attention to irrigating the roots before watering them.

1. The primary task for the treatment of bacterial wilt is to solve the problem of copper deficiency in plants. The first water for watering is planting water, and the second water should be properly added with copper ammonia mixture. When the Ph of soil is 7, it is most suitable.

2. The better way to control bacterial wilt is to irrigate roots with chemicals, but we should pay attention to prevention. When choosing agents, it is best to choose agents with strong internal absorption, such as chlorobromoisocyanuric acid and so on. No disease of tomatoes can be used streptomycin, can kill thousand and other agents for protective spray to prevent bacterial wilt.

3. Tomato plants that have become sick and dead should not be disposed of in the greenhouse, but should be taken and buried deep outside the shed, and the soil should be disinfected at the same time (sprinkling raw lime powder or plant ash or pouring 2% formalin or 20% lime water in the disease hole).

4. In the aspect of fertilization, we should pay attention to the rational application of nitrogen fertilizer, more organic fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to enhance the disease resistance of the plant. At the same time, pay attention to cultivate the robust root system of the plant.
