Okra is also known as okra, coffee okra, commonly known as croissant beans, gurgling tomato. It is planted in Pingxiang and the southern part of China's Jiangxi Province, which is also known as "foreign pepper" because it looks like chili. In recent years, the economic value of okra has been recognized by many growers as the preferred planting variety. So, how to solve the problem that there is a lot of grass growing in the okra planting field? What are the planting methods of okra?

First, how to solve the problem that there is a lot of grass growing in the okra planting field?

Okra herbicide is a special herbicide for okra, before and after seedling. Pre-seedling herbicides are used before emergence of weeds after sowing, and post-seedling herbicides are used at 3-5 leaf stage of weeds, which can kill not only Gramineae sharp-leaf weeds, but also broad-leaved weeds, and is safe for okra.

Second, the planting method of okra

1. Land preparation and planting

Okra can be planted in the open air from April to August every year, and it can be eaten that year. If planted in the greenhouse, it can be sown and harvested ahead of time. Okra generally uses the way of direct seeding, and the seeds can be soaked in warm water for one day before sowing. Okra is not very strict on the soil, but loose, fertile, sunny soil can increase yield. Turn the soil deeply before planting, and then apply enough base fertilizer, mainly organic fertilizer, okra must not stubble.

2. Field management

After okra emergence, weeding should be carried out in time to prevent weeds from competing with them for nutrients. Ploughing should be carried out after each fertilization to prevent soil consolidation from affecting the growth of okra. If the planting density is high, the bottom side branches can be cut off appropriately at the later stage. Okra grows quickly during the fruiting period, and bamboo poles can be planted to prevent lodging if there are more local storms.

3. Water and fertilizer management

Okra has a long growth period and large plants, so there is a great demand for water and fertilizer. Under the premise of applying sufficient base fertilizer in the early stage, topdressing should be carried out for many times, and the first topdressing should be carried out after emergence, mainly urea. It is necessary to apply more fertilizer in the fruiting period to promote high yield. Okra is more drought-tolerant, the seedling stage has little demand for moisture, summer should pay attention to the moisture of the soil, timely elimination of stagnant water after rain to prevent rotting root death.

4. Pest control

Okra has relatively few diseases and insect pests, and disease spots will appear on the branches and leaves when it is cloudy and rainy. Lime can be used to prevent and control infection after sunny days, and appropriate amount of Bordeaux liquid can be sprayed in the early stage. Insect pests are mainly aphids, ground tigers, etc., can be sprayed with carbaryl wettable powder.

5. Harvest

Okra eats tender pods, so timely harvest is very important, too early will affect its yield, if too late will lead to aging, reduce the taste. The harvest time is usually carried out a week after the flowers are shed. The best time to harvest is in the evening, be careful not to hurt its branches, the harvest period can be as long as 3 months.
