"Thousand Village Survey" is a large-scale social practice and social investigation project of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, which focuses on the issues of agriculture, rural areas and farmers. This year's theme is "coverage and use of basic financial services in rural areas". China's rural financial penetration is closely related to the level of economic development, and the work of financial inclusion in economically underdeveloped areas needs to be strengthened.

According to Liu Liya, chief expert of the "Thousand Village Survey" and executive vice dean of the School of Finance and Economics of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the survey involves the service coverage of rural financial institutions and farmers' use of traditional financial services, emerging financial services, and insurance. The survey is conducted by means of random sampling, fixed-point survey and student return survey. Since 2013, the "Thousand Village Survey" has carried out a fixed-point survey, with each county (city) corresponding to two towns and four villages, all covering relatively rich and relatively poor villages and towns. Since July this year, 840 investigation teams, composed of 30 leading teachers and 1418 students, have gone to villages across the country to conduct a questionnaire survey on rural finance.

Tan Ruyong, an associate professor of the School of Finance, conducted a survey on Ceheng County, Guizhou Province, showing that the deposit-to-loan ratio of rural credit cooperatives in two Buyi townships is 75% larger than the regulatory red line, and "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" have a strong thirst for funds. Local rural credit cooperatives have not become a "pump" for rural funds. Su Fang, an associate professor of the School of Finance, conducted a survey in Wushan County, Sichuan Province, showing that the local rural financial penetration is low, farmers' financial awareness and insurance awareness are relatively weak, and insurance participation is low.

Liu Yongming, secretary of the party committee of the School of Finance and Economics of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, said that there are great differences in China's rural areas, and profound changes are taking place, and the "Thousand Village Survey" plays an important role in getting in close contact with rural areas and understanding farmers. only by going deep into rural areas can we truly understand the issues of agriculture, rural areas and farmers and understand the significance of the country's preferential agricultural policies.
