It is almost winter, and it is the best season for garlic seedlings to eat. Garlic seedlings are actually green garlic. In fact, the planting method of garlic seedlings is very simple. You can grow them at home without having to go to the supermarket to buy them. It not only saves money, but also can experience the fun of growing vegetables. Now I would like to share with you some simple and practical tips for planting garlic seedlings.

Soil preparation for planting garlic seedlings

Whether it is pot or open-field soil cultivation, it is best to carry out soil preparation before planting garlic seedlings, so that the soil can reach the best condition of planting garlic seedlings.

1. First of all, prepare some commonly used garden soil and expose it in the sun for about 2 days, in order to achieve the purpose of sterilization.

2. Add some rotten organic fertilizer to the sun-dried soil, and then turn it deeply to make the soil and fertilizer mix evenly, spray a little water and keep it moist. Be careful not to water too much, as long as it feels wet.

II. Planting and sowing management of garlic seedlings

1. Sowing seeds

First spread a layer of sand on the soil, and then evenly arrange the purchased garlic seeds in the sand, pay attention to keep the length of the garlic seeds roughly flat, and keep the distance between the plants about 3 cm. The varieties of garlic are recommended as Zhongnong No. 1, Zhongnong No. 3 and Quanzhou garlic. Their garlic seedlings have strong stress resistance and their leaves are broad and sturdy.

About 5 days after sowing, the garlic seed can take root and squeeze out some of the garlic. At this time, you need to press the garlic seed on the whole soil with a board and cover it with a layer of fine sand.

2. Management

After sowing garlic seeds, water the soil once, be sure to water it thoroughly, and then do not care about them, wait for the emergence rate to reach more than 60% and then pour water into the soil to lift the seedlings.

Garlic likes fertilizer, so you can usually apply more farm manure to garlic to promote its growth.

III. Harvest of garlic seedlings

Why do you say garlic seedlings are suitable for growing at home? Because the growth cycle of garlic seedlings is relatively short, about 1 month after sowing, garlic seedlings can grow to about 30 cm and can be harvested and eaten.

Pay attention to picking off the old leaves when harvesting. You can cut off the old leaves directly from 3 centimeters above the garlic root by hand, or you can cut them off with a knife. Generally, about 2 kilograms of garlic seedlings can be harvested per kilogram of garlic seed, and the second harvest can be carried out about 15 days after the first harvest.

In addition, it is necessary to apply fertilizer after harvest, urea and organic fertilizer can be used, and the weeds in the soil can be removed.

Generally speaking, garlic generally has few diseases and insect pests, and it is a kind of vegetable that is very easy to grow. It can be planted all the year round, and it is also relatively heat-resistant and cold-resistant, but we should pay attention to heat preservation measures when planting in winter, and we can add some plant ash to the soil. Or build a small arch shed, so that the garlic seedlings can grow healthier.
