Gardenia flowers are white and elegant, full-bodied and elegant, tranquil and cool, like strands of breeze blowing in midsummer, deeply loved by people, so what are the common diseases and insect pests and control methods in the process of cultivating gardenia?

Gardenia spot blight

1. Symptoms

Spot blight is a disease caused by fungi, which mainly harms the leaves of Gardenia jasminoides. When the disease occurs, the plant will appear a round spot with a diameter of 2 to 4 cm, the color is yellowish brown, and many small black spots will appear on the edge of the leaf. The humid environment of Gardenia jasminoides will increase the incidence of the disease.

2. Prevention and control measures

During maintenance, pay attention to ventilation and light, appropriate watering, reduce air humidity, if conditions permit, the plant can be put outside for maintenance.

In the early stage of the disease, the diseased leaves should be removed in time to prevent infection. Separate the infected gardenia from other plants to avoid poor infection.

When you get sick, you can spray Bordeaux solution or Dyson zinc solution, spray once every 7 to 10 days, and be cured for 3 or 4 times in a row.

2. Yellow disease of gardenia

1. Symptoms

Gardenia yellowing is a physiological disease that harms the leaves of gardenia. When the disease occurs, the leaves gradually turn yellow, the plant growth slows down and wilts gradually.

2. Prevention and control measures

When it is found that the plant is yellow, 0.2-1% ferrous sulfate solution can be used to spray the leaf surface or irrigate the root, and the concentration can be adjusted higher when watering the root. Spray time is chosen in the morning after the dew is dry, irrigate (spray) and bask in the sun. If the plant yellowing is serious, it can be sprayed once a week, but the spraying concentration should be controlled to avoid root burning. After a period of time, the leaves of the plant will gradually turn green and return to normal.

In order to avoid plant yellowing, 4-5 ferrous sulfate solution can be prophylactically sprayed during the growth of gardenia from April to August every year.

Third, Gardenia soot disease

1. Symptoms

Soot disease mainly occurs between branches and leaves, when the disease occurs, brown and white disease spots will appear on branches and leaves, branches stop growing, and plants wilt gradually.

2. Prevention and control measures

When you get sick, scrub with clean water in time to wipe off the white fungus on the branches and leaves. Or spray 1000-1200 times carbendazim and Baumedushi sulfur mixture for comprehensive control.

4. Gardenia rot

1. Symptoms

Gardenia rot mainly harms the trunk of Gardenia jasminoides. During the disease, the stem hypertrophy and cracking appeared under the trunk of the plant, and the trunk gradually shrunk and rotted.

2. Prevention and control measures

The flowers are pruned in time to cut off the withered branches. And thinning branches to reduce the consumption of nutrients and promote the growth of the trunk.

If the stalk is found to be rotten, scrape off the rotten part in time and apply 5-10 degree stone sulfur mixture several times.

5. Insect pests of gardenia

The pests harmful to gardenia are aphids, jumping beetles and diamondback moth larvae, the first two can be used dimethoate and trichlorfon, and the latter can be controlled or artificially captured with 666 powder. In addition, gardenia is prone to shell insect damage and soot disease when indoor ventilation is poor and temperature and humidity is too high in winter. Scale insects can be scraped off with bamboo sticks or small brushes, or sprayed with No. 20 petroleum emulsion plus 100-150 times water.
