Aquatic plants, as their name implies, are herbs that can grow naturally in the water. They are indispensable for fish, shrimp and other aquatic animals in the water. Now, no matter outdoor or indoor breeding, some aquatic plants will be planted. But aquatic plant cultivation is a technical job, so how can aquatic plants survive successfully? Which aquatic plant varieties are better for beginners?

What kinds of aquatic plants are good for beginners?

1. Recommendation of outdoor aquaculture varieties

If it is an excavated pond, in which fish, shrimp and crabs are raised, aquatic plants need to be planted. It is recommended that verticillium verticillata, bitter grass, Elosa, goldfish algae, water peanut, Potamogeton crispus, Malay, water hyacinth, water lily, duckweed, Reed, Zizania caduciflora, Sagittaria, cattail and so on are recommended.

2. Recommendation of aquaculture in fish tank

Generally speaking, aquatic plants cultivated in fish tanks should choose relatively developed root systems in order to survive smoothly. For novice aquaculture, goldfish grass, asparagus, crown grass, water chrysanthemum and so on are all very suitable.

In addition, when buying aquatic plants, novices should pay attention to avoid buying "fake aquatic plants" (water-tolerant terrestrial plants). On the one hand, it is not conducive to the survival of aquatic plants, and the other is not good for the fish and shrimp inside.

Second, how can aquatic plants survive successfully?

1. Culture methods of aquatic plants.

(1) Outdoor aquaculture

Generally, planting method, throwing method, transplanting method, cultivation method and sowing method can be used in outdoor aquaculture, but different kinds of aquatic plants have different suitable methods.

For example, verticillium verticillata and Elodea verticillata are suitable for transplanting, cut them into segments and insert them into the mud like transplanting seedlings.

Sophora flavescens is suitable for sowing, it is recommended to soak the seeds and mix the soil with sand before sowing, so the survival rate will be higher.

(2) aquaculture in fish tank

Aquarium aquaculture is suitable for potted, sand and floating plants. For example, crown grass, asparagus and water chrysanthemum recommended above are suitable for potted plants and sand, while centipede and goldfish grass are suitable for floating cultivation.

2. Matters needing attention in aquaculture

(1) Illumination: aquatic plants can also need sufficient light if they want to grow normally, and can be artificially brightened if necessary.

(2) temperature: the optimum growth temperature of most aquatic plants is 18-30 degrees Celsius, so cooling and warming measures should be taken in summer and winter respectively.

(3) the density of aquatic plants: the planting of aquatic plants should not be too dense, and there should be sufficient living space for fish and shrimp.

(4) nutrients: if there are insufficient nutrients, aquatic plants are easy to die, so proper fertilization is necessary.

(5) Water quality: first of all, it is necessary to ensure the appropriate PH value, not too high and too low, and secondly to avoid the phenomenon of high calcium in water quality.
