Third, how to preserve Chinese cabbage in winter?

1. Narrow channel burial method

This method has the advantages of less loss and less storage, but it is more laborious to dig trenches. Before harvest, the cabbage should be dug from north to south where it is easy to use, with a depth of 40cm to 50cm. A ditch 4cm deeper and 1m wide than Chinese cabbage. Chinese cabbage is graded after harvest. Remove the remaining leaves. When the temperature drops to about 0 ℃, arrange the roots down tightly in the ditch, with the top head flush and the last root up. It is covered with 2 to 3 centimeters of fine soil. In the future, when the temperature drops, it is necessary to cover the slightly frozen fine soil before each strong cold spell, and the thickness of the soil will reach 30cm to 40cm for the last time.

2. Temporary living cellar storage

The storage condition of this method is easy to control, and it is also convenient to use. The method is to make a living cellar with a depth of 1 to 1.2 meters, a height of 2.3 meters and a width of 2.3 meters. The top of the cellar is covered with corn stalks and covered with soil of 15 centimeters, with ventilation holes of about 0.2 square meters in the middle of the cellar roof and pit doors in the south. Chinese cabbage enters the cellar in the evening while it is cool. Double row and a stack, a total of 6-7 layers. At the beginning of entering the cellar, the pit mouth and vents were opened all day, and the vegetables were poured once after 10-15 days, and then the vents were sealed gradually with the drop of temperature, and only opened at noon on a sunny day.

3. Indoor storage

This method is used for a small amount of storage, and it is more convenient to take it with you. After the cabbage harvest, dry for several days to remove moisture. When the temperature drops to about minus 3 ℃, take advantage of the freeze to move the cabbage to a place with a low indoor temperature. The stacking method can be double-row vertical stacking, with sorghum stalks separated between each two layers. If you find something abnormal during storage, you should reverse the stack in time and remove the rotten leaves.

Fourth, why should cabbage be stored with the root down and the head up?

There are also places where they are placed up, and we usually put them down and head up. The reasons and advantages of this arrangement are: it is beneficial to keep the cabbage fresh, the roots are down and generally come into contact with the soil, and the experienced vegetable farmers will harvest when the cabbage heart is about to grow. During the post-harvest storage, the root contact with the soil cabbage heart will continue to grow for a long time, the principle root will be almost ripe after ripening, and the growing cabbage will remain fresh and will not wilt because of storage.

Root-down and head-up is good for ventilation and prevents stacking heat. In this way, there will be a certain gap between cabbages, which can maintain ventilation and avoid heating and decay. Timely is conducive to ventilation, once a week vegetables can not be omitted, and regular inspection, the decaying leaves and cabbages will be removed to avoid infection with other cabbages.

Following downwards and upwards is beneficial to increase the low temperature tolerance and storage tolerance of Chinese cabbage. Especially when the temperature is low, the Chinese cabbage leaves are prone to frost injury and rot, and the roots grow in the soil before harvest. In addition, if the cabbage is head-down, the compactness of the cabbage leaves is not enough, it is easy to rot under the pressure for a long time, and it will also affect the appearance of the cabbage.

So on the whole, it is better to store cabbages with their roots facing down. However, the way of storage is different in each place. Maybe some places are used to keeping up, and the effect of keeping up is not bad. You can try it all.
