Paulownia flowers are colorful, suitable for garden ornamental trees or street trees, the north can be potted in the greenhouse, it is the national flower of Argentina. So, how should paulownia be planted? Let's get to know it now.

I. planting requirements

Paulownia is suitable for sunny, high-temperature and well-ventilated environment, dry and wet, but not waterlogged. Not cold-resistant, enter the house in late October, the overwintering temperature should be kept at about 15 ℃, not less than 4 ℃, and attention should be paid to controlling moisture. It is resistant to barren and lax on soil. In pot cultivation, hoof horn film can be used as base fertilizer, bean cake liquid fertilizer can be applied every 2 Mill every 3 weeks, and thin fertilizer can be applied frequently. In open field cultivation, young trees should be pruned to form a round tree shape.

Potted plants should choose larger pots, and large vats can be used for greenhouse potted plants. The roots of paulownia have a high degree of Lignification and few fibrous roots, such as poor drainage or stagnant water in basin soil, which is easy to rot roots, so loose and fertile sandy loam should be used as culture, and clayey soil with poor drainage should be avoided. When potting or changing pots, generally medium plants should use 100g / 150g hoof horn tablets as base fertilizer per pot.

From May to September, mature organic liquid fertilizer should be applied every semimonthly. Paulownia does not like flood, and it is better to keep it half-dry and half-wet in the basin soil. High temperature in summer, large evaporation, can be watered once a day. In the hot summer, it is necessary to keep the outdoor semi-shade place for maintenance. In winter, water can be watered every 2 to 3 days. Plants that are trimmed before entering the house can be watered every 10 to 15 days. The aged plants should be cut off properly to facilitate the adjustment of plant shape. For the over-long branches, the heart-picking method can be taken after flowering to control the branch growth, or the flowering branches can be cut off from the base, and the budding branches bloom more luxuriantly. Change the basin every spring.

Second, the main points of cultivation

1. Paulownia cutting branches in spring and autumn, 10-15 cm long, hot bed sand insertion, after shading, pay attention to watering and moisturizing, it is easy to take root and form seedlings.

2. Large pots are needed for potted plants in greenhouse, and sufficient water, ventilation and light are required in spring and summer.

3. Excessive heat should be cultivated in a semi-shady place. Liquid fertilizer was applied every two weeks from May to August. Watering should be controlled in winter, and the basin soil can be moist.

4. Old plants should be properly cut off, and the tree shape should be adjusted after reproducing branches and leaves.

3. Culture methods of paulownia

The pot management of paulownia is relatively extensive, but the pot should be turned every other year before leaving the house, and the pot soil should be mixed with 2 parts of pond mud, 1 part of compost and 1 part of Hui bran ash. The plant needs to be re-cut, leaving only 1-2 buds for annual branches less than 1 cm in diameter, and 2-3 buds for those with a diameter of more than 1 cm. After heavy cutting, it will stimulate hidden buds and axillary buds to produce strong new shoots, which can make the trees blossom when they grow up. The mulberry branches and weak branches in the root should be peeled off in time.

Give plenty of light after leaving the room. There is a little shade in the height of summer. Watering is based on the principle of wetting between dryness and dryness. After pulling out the new shoots, apply cake fertilizer and water every 10 days. After flowering, in addition to normal fertilization, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer was applied twice to promote the development and fullness of branches. Fertilization was gradually stopped after October. After entering the room at the end of October, put it in a sunny place to keep the basin soil slightly moist.

Fourth, the breeding mode of paulownia.

Paulownia is suitable for warm climate, likes sunshine and is not resistant to cold. Multi-use cutting propagation, sowing or cutting propagation, cutting in April-May, 1-2 months can be root; can also be propagated under high pressure.

Cuttings were selected from 1 to 2 years old in April, and the fully growing and robust branches were cut into 12~20cm branches as cuttings and inserted into the sand. After insertion, you should pay attention to watering and moisturizing, which is very easy to take root and survive. Seedlings should be placed in a semi-shady place and always keep the basin soil moist. When red buds grow on the cuttings, it means that they have taken root. The seedlings survived by cutting can be planted on branches in the following spring.
