Wang Lian, a plant of the genus Nymphaeaceae, is a large tropical ornamental plant, which is famous for its huge leaves and delicate colors. So, what are the varieties of Wang Lian? How do you grow Wang Lian? Let's get to know it.

What are the varieties of Wang Lian?

1. Amazon Wang Lian

Amazon king lotus rhizome erect, with well-developed adventitious roots, primary leaves are needle-shaped, 2-3 leaves are spear-shaped, 4-5 leaves are hastate, 6-10 leaves are oval to round, 11 leaves are disk-shaped, the leaves are green and slightly reddish, native to tropical waters of South America, born in river bays and lakeside waters.

2. Cruz Wang Lian

The shape of the Cruz king lotus is basically the same as that of the Amazon king lotus, the difference is that the leaf remains green throughout the growing period, the leaf diameter is larger than that of the Amazon king lotus, the leaf edge is warped up, and the upright edge is nearly twice as high as that of the Amazon king lotus, and the flower color is also lighter than that of the Amazon king lotus. Mainly produced in Paraguay and Argentina and other places.

3. Changmu Wang Lian

Changmu Wang lotus is made from the cross between Amazon king lotus and Cruz king lotus, and its leaves are the largest. In 1961, it was bred by crossing in the American longwood botanical garden. Combining the characteristics of the two parents, the sepals are sparsely hard-spined, and the leaves are generally more than 2 meters high. The height of the leaf margin is between the two, the leaf is reddish, and the vein is purple.

Second, how to grow Wang Lian?

1. Raising seedlings

After budding, half a month later, when there are two leaves and five roots, the seedlings can be raised. First germinate first transplant, generally use a small basin with a caliber of 15cm or so, filled with finer mud and a small amount of sand, one plant in each basin to avoid robbing each other for nutrition. The planting depth should be a few centimeters higher than the soil surface, so that the leaves float on the surface of the water. The planting process should not be too long, and the seedlings will die after 5 hours from the water.

2. Colonization

Transplanting can be carried out when the water temperature of the open-air pool is above 18 degrees. Wang Lian is a positive aquatic flower plant, so the selection pool should be oriented to the sun and shelter, so as to ensure that Wang Lianchi has sufficient light, increase the water temperature and increase the survival rate. There are usually two ways to transplant, one is to transplant directly in the pond, generally, a whole plant occupies about 30 square meters of the pond, and the other is indirect transplanting, first plant the seedlings into the tank, and then put the tank into the pond.

3. Management

Wanglian's life cycle goes through vegetative growth period, flowering and fruiting stage, which includes seedling stage and fast-growing stage. These two periods are important periods for Wanglian's growth, which must be carefully and carefully managed. At the same time of planting, should be prepared to cover the film, at first the seedlings in the open field adaptability is not strong, relatively fragile, the temperature difference between day and night is large, in case of overcast and rain may rot leaves, so the film should be opened in sunny days, rainy days and night cover, until June to remove the film.

4. Topdressing

After planting, until the end of the seedling stage, topdressing fertilizer every 10 days or so, mainly compound fertilizer, to the fast-growing stage, the average daily increase of leaf diameter is 20cm, with an average of one leaf every 4 days, at this time, fertilizer should be applied every 5 days. After flowering, due to the hot weather and exuberant plant growth, about 20g of quick-acting phosphate fertilizer with holes can be used to bury about 20g of quick-acting phosphate fertilizer not far from the root to promote the development of rhizome.

5. Water level

The depth of water injection is an important factor affecting the growth of Wang lotus. Wanglian is a shallow aquatic plant, the water level generally does not exceed 0.4 m at the top of the plant stem, and the variation range of water level should be controlled within 0.3 m. In the seedling stage after transplanting, the water level should be adjusted according to the growth status of seedlings.

The above is a little knowledge about how Wang Lian is planted. Do you know all about it?
