So, how to raise daffodils?

Daffodil is one of the top ten famous flowers in China, and it is the most popular plant in winter. Its flowers are not only beautiful, but also give off a charming fragrance. Keeping them at home can create a quiet and comfortable atmosphere and make people feel quiet and warm. So, how to raise daffodils? What if it doesn't blossom?

First, introduction of daffodils!

1. Are daffodils aquatic plants?

Daffodils are not aquatic plants, although they can grow naturally by soaking their roots in clear water, but they can also grow well in the soil, just because hydroponics are more fresh, so many people think that they are aquatic plants.

2. Are daffodils the flowers of garlic?

No, daffodils are perennial herbs of Amaryllidaceae and Narcissus, while garlic is a semi-perennial herb of Liliaceae and onions; the phosphorus stems of daffodils are similar to onions and do not have garlic cloves, which smells tasteless and can blossom when they grow up, but cannot be eaten, while the phosphorus stems of garlic have garlic cloves that smell smelly and will not blossom when they grow up, but they can be eaten.

Second, how to raise daffodils?

1. Reproduction: generally, bulbs are used to sow seeds and reproduce.

Daffodils are usually planted from September to October and can be cultivated in soil, sand and water. Soil culture is to first fill the flowerpot with eight percent of the soil, then plant the ball in the soil, then cover a layer of soil, pour enough water, and put it in a cool and ventilated place to wait for germination; sand culture is similar to soil culture, except to change the soil into sand; hydroponic culture is to first fill the shallow basin with water, and then soak the half of the seed ball in water to reveal the side to germinate, and then put it in a cool and ventilated place to wait for germination.

2. Soil: rich sandy soil.

Daffodils like fertile sandy soil, pH between 5-7.5, can not be heavy clayey soil and gravel, the soil is loose, good structure, strong water retention is better. If it is sand culture or water culture, we do not have to consider this problem.

3. The temperature should be kept at about 10-15 ℃.

Daffodils like a warm environment, and the temperature should be kept at about 10-15 ℃. If the temperature is low, you can replace the pot with 12-15 ℃ of warm water, or surround the whole pot with plastic film to form a small greenhouse; if the temperature is too high, you can add appropriate amount of cold water to the basin.

4. Light: 6 hours of light every day.

Daffodils are short-day plants, which can be illuminated for 6 hours a day. If the light is insufficient, measures should be taken. 60 watts of light can be used to illuminate 40-50 centimeters from the flowers.

5. Moisture: different growth stages are different.

Daffodils have more requirements for water, and the water requirements of different growth stages are also different. if it is soil culture and sand culture, as long as the soil is moist at the initial stage of bulb cultivation, the bulb should be irrigated frequently in the prosperous period of growth and development, and the requirement of water in the mature period should be reduced correspondingly; if it is hydroponic culture, the water of the bulb should be changed once a day at the initial stage of growth and development, and once a week after the formation of the bud.

6. Fertilization: fertilizing before flowering.

If it is soil culture and sand culture, daffodils should be fertilized before blooming, it is recommended to use the special flower compound fertilizer on the market, do not apply fertilizer when blooming, otherwise affect the flowering period, the temperature below 15 ℃ can not apply fertilizer or less fertilizer, so as not to affect its normal growth and development; if it is hydroponic, basically no fertilization.

7. Disease: spray control.

The diseases of daffodils include bulb rot, brown spot, leaf blight, nematode, aspergillosis, penicillium and so on.

What if the daffodils do not blossom?

When will the daffodils blossom?

Daffodils usually bloom in winter and spring, that is, from December to March, about 10 to 15 days. Under the condition of sufficient light and clean water supply, it takes about 40 days for daffodils to soak to blossom at 12: 15 ℃, about 30 days at 18 ℃, and only 25 days at 20 ℃. If the room temperature is controlled artificially, the flowering of daffodils can be advanced or delayed.

2. The reasons for the non-flowering of daffodils and their solutions.

(1) it may be that the daffodils do not blossom because of poor bulbs. when buying bulbs, many flower lovers cannot tell whether they are the same year, and whether they are good or bad, but there is no need to care. They can blossom after two to three years of maintenance.

(2) it may be that the culture time is unreasonable. Narcissus is a kind of dormant flowers. If the culture time is after the Qingming Festival and before Frosts Descent, it will not blossom.

(3) it may be that the water is not changed or changed in time, which will lead to the growth of bacteria, affect the normal growth of the plant, cause the rot of the bulb, and finally affect the flowering of daffodils. Therefore, it is necessary to change the water in a timely manner. If the seed ball has rotted, it is recommended to cut off the rotten place and disinfect it.

(4) it may be that the temperature and light is unreasonable, if the light is insufficient, but the temperature is on the high side, it will cause the plant to grow too much, resulting in little or no flowering. Therefore, to adjust the indoor temperature, and give reasonable light, daffodils will naturally blossom.

The above is the breeding method of daffodils and the solution of not blooming. I hope it will be useful to you.
