Water lily is one of the most valuable aquatic flowers, known as "sleeping beauty in flowers". Its leaves are round or oval, and the flowers are red, pink, blue, purple or white. When water lilies bloom, they are very charming and charming, so we all know how to raise water lilies.

A brief introduction to water lilies!

Is the water lily a lotus?

Water lilies are not lotus flowers, although they are similar in appearance, they are not of the same breed; the flowers and leaves of water lilies are mostly floating on the surface, and the flowers and leaves of water lilies are high above the water surface; most of the leaves of water lilies have V-shaped gaps and have fluff on the surface, and the leaves of lotus flowers have no gap, and the surface is smooth; the flowers of water lilies are relatively small, while the flowers of lotus flowers are relatively large; water lilies generally bloom in the early morning or at night, and the lotus flowers bloom in the early morning.

2. When do water lilies bloom?

Water lilies generally bloom from June to August, with different varieties and different time of flowering. Some of them bloom at 8-10:00 in the evening and close at 0-11:00 the next day, others bloom at 6-8 o'clock during the day and close at noon or afternoon.

3. Which country is the national flower of water lilies?

Water lilies are the national flower of India, Thailand, Bangladesh and Cambodia.

Second, how to raise water lilies?

1. Place: pond, vase or vase.

Water lilies can be raised in ponds, in vases and in vases. If you are raised in a pond, there is at least 30cm deep soil at the bottom, and the water level is maintained at 2-3cm at the beginning; if you are raised in a large vat, you should choose a high 50cm or so, with a large caliber as far as possible, and the bottom of the tank should have 30-40cm nutritious soil, and the water level should be kept above 2-3cm; if you are raised in a vase, choose a deep vase and fill it with 2/3 water.

2. Reproduction: sowing or ramet.

Water lilies can reproduce by sowing or dividing plants. Sowing usually takes place from March to April. After sowing the seeds, cover the soil with 1cm, press and soak them into the water, the water surface is 1-2cm higher than the soil, put it in a warm place in the sun, and it can germinate in half a month. Ramets are usually carried out in March-April (cold-tolerant species) or mid-May (cold-tolerant species). When ramet, the rhizome should have a bud, bury the terminal bud upward into the topsoil, then cover the soil so that the bud eye is flat with the soil, then bask in the sun a little, and then inject shallow water; the pond is suitable for ramet reproduction, and the vase is suitable for sowing or ramet reproduction, and the vase can only cut unopened buds, open flowers or robust branches.

3. Soil: loam rich in organic matter.

Water lilies do not have strict requirements on soil quality, and the pH value of 6-8 can grow normally, but the loam rich in organic matter is better. To raise in the pond, you should first drain the pond water, apply basic fertilizer (cake manure, barnyard manure, broken bone and superphosphate, etc.) at the bottom, fill the fertilizer soil; in the big flower jar, you can first apply the base fertilizer and then fill the fertilizer soil.

4. Light: sufficient light.

No matter where water lilies are raised, they need sufficient light, and only when they are cultured in full light can they grow better; if they are raised in a shady place, they will affect flowering and lose the color of the leaves; if they are raised in a vase, they can be put in a sunny place indoors, and do not expose them to the sun, so as not to evaporate the water and cause the plants to wither.

5. Water level: it varies from time to time.

Water lilies like still water and do not like water that flows more rapidly. At the initial stage of growth, the water level is as shallow as possible. With the growth of leaves, the water level gradually increases. During the peak growth period, the water level should reach about 40 cm. In autumn, the water level should be lowered, and in winter, the water level should be deepened once before the water surface freezes, so that the water lilies can safely survive the winter under the ice. If you are raised in a vase, change the water once a week and keep the water level at 2/3 of the bottle.

6. Topdressing: topdressing once every 15 days.

Topdressing for water lilies is generally 15 days before flowering, and every 15 days after that, to ensure the amount of flowering, fertilizer and soil can be evenly mixed and clutched into soil balls and applied around the rhizome. Topdressing should not be too much, otherwise it will lead to excessive growth of algae and weeds, and then pollute the water.

Can water lilies be raised with fish?

If water lilies are raised in a pond, they can raise fish, goldfish and koi; if they are raised in a large flower jar, they can raise one or two small fish, goldfish, lantern fish, and peacock fish; if they are raised in a vase, it is best not to raise fish, which will affect the water quality, and the vase space is not big enough.

The above is the introduction of water lily culture methods, if it is raised in a pond or a large vat, you can raise fish, if it is pure water in a vase, it is recommended not to raise fish.
