1. Soil: Sandy loam and alluvial soil are better.

Peppermint is not very strict on the soil, except for sand, over-sticky, over-pH and low-lying soil with poor drainage, the general soil can be planted, and sandy loam and alluvial soil are better. Scattered land such as pond edge, house edge and canal edge with sufficient light can be selected. After the plot is selected, the land should be prepared and turned deeply, and then the rotten compost, soil miscellaneous fertilizer, calcium superphosphate and bone meal should be used as base fertilizer, turn the fertilizer into the soil, and then break the soil and rake flat to make the border.

2. Propagation: rhizome, ramet and cuttage.

Peppermint can be propagated by rhizome, ramet and cuttage. Rhizome propagation is generally carried out in late April or late August, and the mother plant is planted according to the row spacing of 20 × 10cm; ramet propagation is generally used when the seedlings are high 15cm or so; cutting propagation is generally carried out from May to June, and cuttings should be cut according to the row spacing of 7 × 3cm on the whole seedbed, rooting and sprouting.

3. Management: scientific management can grow well.

(1) Illumination: peppermint likes sunlight and long sunshine, which can not only promote the flowering of mint, but also contribute to the accumulation of peppermint oil and menthol.

(2) temperature: the most suitable growth temperature of peppermint is 25 ℃-30 ℃. It grows slowly when it is lower than 15 ℃, grows faster when it is higher than 20 ℃, and tolerates low temperature of-15 ℃.

(3) watering: peppermint is usually watered for about 15 days, and should be watered gently after sealing to avoid excessive growth of stems and leaves and lodging, and the water will be stopped for 25 days before harvest.

(4) fertilization: urea 10kg should be applied per mu when peppermint seedlings have high 10-15cm, and 5ml + 150g potassium dihydrogen phosphate + 150g urea should be sprayed twice per mu after closure.

(5) weeding: after the whole mint seedling, the weeding should be carried out by ploughing and weeding for 3 times before closing, and the weeds in the field should be removed before harvest so as not to affect the quality of peppermint oil.

Is there a fake mint, too?

Peppermint is also fake, such as green mint, peppermint, grapefruit mint, lemon mint, apple mint, wrinkled leaf mint, etc., which are very similar to peppermint, but are different from real peppermint and are often confused.

1. Green mint: it can grow to 90 centimeters tall and bloom purple. Compared with peppermint, it is not menthol, and it has a high content of menthol and tastes a little sweeter.

2. Peppermint: unlike peppermint, it is a hybrid of green mint and water mint, with a hint of pepper when eaten.

Grapefruit mint, lemon mint, apple mint: compared with mint, their aroma and cool taste are different.

4. Wrinkled leaves: compared with peppermint, its leaves look thinner and slender because they do not have too many wrinkles.
