Lettuce is a common edible vegetable, generally fried, can also be eaten raw, its nutritional value is very high, many people like to eat. So, how to grow lettuce? When will you plant it? The following is the planting method and time of lettuce!

A brief introduction to lettuce!

1. What's the name of lettuce?

Lettuce, also known as leaf lettuce, goose lettuce, shipping lettuce, lettuce, etc., is a plant of the family Compositae lettuce, native to the Euro-Mediterranean coast, now can be grown in most parts of China, 25-100 cm high, the leaves are long Obovate, dense into kale-shaped leaf balls.

2. Is lettuce cool?

Lettuce is cool, has the effect of clearing heat and detoxification, clearing liver and gallbladder, therefore, people with frequent urination and cold stomach should not eat more, otherwise it will aggravate the disease, and even lead to abdominal distension and diarrhea, causing loss of appetite and so on.

3. How many kinds of lettuce are there?

According to the growth morphology of leaves, it can be divided into three kinds, namely, heading lettuce, wrinkled leaf lettuce and erect lettuce. The main characteristic of heading lettuce is that its terminal leaf forms leaf ball, and the main characteristic of wrinkled leaf lettuce is non-heading. The main characteristic of upright lettuce is narrow and long leaves and upright growth.

How to grow lettuce?

1. Soil: good water and fertilizer conservation, rich in organic matter.

Lettuce has a well-developed root system and likes slightly acidic, so it is necessary to choose clay loam with good water and fertilizer conservation and rich organic matter, with a pH value of 5-7; before planting, the soil should be raked fine, applied rotten organic fertilizer and fully mixed with the soil, and then poured enough bottom water to make the border after drying.

2. Sowing: cover the soil and plastic film after sowing.

Lettuce is generally sown with seeds, suitable varieties should be selected, and then the seeds should be evenly sown on the border surface, with a sowing amount of 30-50 grams per mu, covered with 0.3-0.5 cm thick tidal soil and covered with plastic film to keep moisturizing. The border plastic film should be opened in time when unearthed to prevent overgrowth.

3. Planting: it can be planted when it grows to 4-5 true leaves.

When the seedlings grow to 2-3 true leaves, the seedlings are divided according to the row spacing of 6-8 cm, and can be planted when they grow to 4-5 true leaves; irrigate the seedling bed one day before planting, make the seedling moist, and bring as much soil as possible the next day; then open the ditch, the depth of the ditch is 4-6 cm, apply ternary compound fertilizer according to 25 kg per mu and then irrigate, and after water osmosis, put the seedling to cultivate soil and seal the ditch according to the plant spacing of 24 cm.

4. Temperature: the suitable temperature for growth is 15 ℃-20 ℃.

Lettuce likes cold and cool environment, and is not resistant to cold and heat. The suitable temperature for growth is 15 ℃-20 ℃. The temperature of seedling bed should be controlled at 18 ℃-20 ℃ during the day and 12 ℃-14 ℃ at night. Pay attention to ventilation and shade when exposed to strong light.

5. Fertilizer and water: there should be no shortage of water, and fertilizer should be applied in time.

Lettuce likes to be wet, and sufficient water supply is required during the whole growth period. there is generally no shortage of water in the seedling stage, slow seedling water is watered once after planting for 5-7 days, then ploughing and loosening soil to weed, watering 3-4 times, and stop watering before harvest; plants need nitrogen, phosphorus and potash fertilizer during the growing period, which can be combined with watering and topdressing by stages, and lettuce needs more potassium.

When will the lettuce be planted?

1. Lettuce seeds can germinate at 4 ℃. The suitable temperature during the growth period is 15 ℃-20 ℃, and the growth is poor above 25 ℃. 0 ℃ or even short-term sub-zero low temperature does not hinder the growth, from sowing to harvest takes about 30-40 days. Therefore, lettuce should avoid high temperature and hot weather and low freezing weather. It is better to plant lettuce in March-April in spring and September-October in autumn.

2. in fact, as long as the temperature is suitable, it can be planted all the year round, and different varieties have different requirements for temperature. some varieties are cold-resistant and some are heat-resistant, so they should be treated differently.

The above is the planting method and time introduction of lettuce. I hope it will be useful to you.
