The pruning of bayberry is roughly divided into two stages. For the first time, after picking the fruit, that is, at the end of June and the beginning of July, the higher branches (open skylight) are sawed off by cutting, thinning, injuring and other methods. When pruning in winter, it is necessary to remove overdense branches, erect branches, competitive branches, disease and insect branches, do not leave stakes, adjust the opening angle and orientation of the main branches, adjust the tree structure from a large aspect, and reasonably shrink the outgoing branches that have not been pruned for many years, so as to keep the crown compact. Adjust the internal structure of bayberry, remove strong branches on the back, dense weak branches on the back, overlapping branches, control competitive branches, use auxiliary branches to select and cultivate small and medium-sized fruiting branches. II. Points for attention in shaping and pruning of red bayberry

1. The tree transformation is completed year by year.

In summer, only 1-3 main branches and 2-4 sub-main branches were sawed off every year. If the angle of the main branch and the secondary branch is not enough, it should be adjusted by means of brace, tension, hoisting and so on.

2. Strictly control the tip

After sawing big branches in summer, new shoots were produced near the saw and shearing mouth, and 2 or 3 strong shoots were selected by space, and the fruiting mother branches were cultured. The superfluous tips should be erased in time.

3. The amount of pruning depends on the tree

4. Strengthen cultivation and management.

Timely do a good job in soil, fertilizer and water, flower and fruit protection, pest control and other management work to ensure that "shaping and pruning" to achieve the desired results.
