Cyclamen is also called rabbit ear flower, a crown, bonspark, petal lotus and so on. Cyclamen is colorful and has high ornamental value. So, what is the planting method of cyclamen seeds? Let's get to know it together.

I. growth habits

Cyclamen likes warmth, but is afraid of heat. The suitable growth temperature is between 15 and 30 degrees. If the temperature is too high, it will rot and deteriorate. Cyclamen grows best in cool environment and in fertile sandy loam rich in humus. Cyclamen is more hardy and can withstand the low temperature of 0 ℃. It is the growing season from autumn to March and April of the following year. It is semi-dormant in summer and 12-15 degrees in winter. When promoting flowering, the temperature is controlled at 18-22 degrees, the plants above 0 degrees will enter dormancy, and the plants above 35 degrees are easy to rot and die, and can tolerate low temperature in winter, but the growth is slow, the flower color is dim and flowering less when the temperature is below 5 degrees. Carbon dioxide gas supplementation in winter can promote growth and flowering, moist air and sufficient sunshine are beneficial to the growth of cyclamen during the growing period.

2. Seed treatment

Cyclamen seeds generally need to be obtained after artificial pollination. The seeds generally mature in May and should be harvested in time. The weight of 1000 seeds is about 10 grams, and the germination rate is 85-95%. In order to promote seed germination, soak the seeds before sowing and soak the seeds in cold water for 24 hours. If you are in a hurry, soak the seeds in warm water of about 35 degrees for 2 hours, then wash the adhesive on the seed surface and wrap it in a wet cloth to accelerate germination. After 2 days, the seeds can be taken out and sown.

Third, sowing method

Cyclamen is usually sown in September-October in autumn, and the sowing soil is preferably a sandy loam rich in humus, which can only be used after fine sieving. When sowing, first put the soil in the basin, spray water with a spray pot, wait for the water to seep completely, sow the seeds in the basin at a distance of 1-1.5 cm, cover with a layer of fine soil after sowing, cover with glass or plastic film to moisturize, and place in the semi-shade. During seedling emergence, the soil moisture should be observed at any time to keep the soil moist. Under normal circumstances, seedlings can emerge in about 20 days.

IV. Seedling management

1. Transplanting seedlings

After the leaves of cyclamen seedlings are fully unfolded, the seedlings can be transferred for the first time, and the basin soil, like the sowing soil, had better be a sandy loam rich in humus, and the distance between the seedlings should be about 3 cm. Sprinkle water with a spray pot immediately after transplanting, and then keep the seedling basin moist. When the seedlings grow 3 leaves and the corm grows to 5 mm in diameter, it should be planted in time.

2. Transplanting

Cyclamen transplanting pot soil is sifted and mixed with 20% rotten leaf soil, 20% garden soil, 50% fine yellow sand and 10% mature dung, and small soil balls should be taken as far as possible when transplanting, which can improve the survival rate of transplanting, make it level with the soil surface, sprinkle it thoroughly after transplanting and put it in the indoor sunshine. After the seedlings resume growth, they should be watered and fertilized in time. Generally, they can blossom in the winter of the second year.

The above is the planting method of cyclamen seeds arranged by Xiaobian for you. I hope it can help you to learn to make cyclamen blossom more colorful!
