The reporter recently learned from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences that the Huang-Huai-Hai soybean green yield-increasing technology model launched by the institute this year has achieved remarkable results, with a yield increase of 11.8% compared with the control group.

It is understood that the model integrates eight key technologies such as no-tillage mulching and precision sowing of wheat straw. According to the yield measured by the expert group, the soybean planted with this technical model has a yield of 195.3 kg per mu, which is 20.6 kg higher than that of the conventional method (174.7 kg), an increase of 11.8%, and a net income of more than 180 yuan per mu.

Li Jiayang, vice minister of agriculture and president of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that due to the decline in comparative efficiency, China's soybean planting scale has been declining in recent years, with soybean imports reaching 71.4 million tons in 2014, accounting for 80 per cent of domestic market consumption and 60 per cent of international trade. Relying on the green yield-increasing and efficiency-increasing technical model to achieve high yield and high efficiency of soybean will help to stabilize and improve the supply capacity of domestic soybean.
