Cycad, also known as Irontree, belongs to one of the ferns. The whole shows an upright state, which can be as high as one meter. It is a very popular bonsai plant, so how to control cycad leaf blight in the process of conserving cycad? What are the main points of daily maintenance?

I. Control of leaf blight of cycad

When leaf blight occurs, the leaf color of cycad is red, and the disease spot is irregular, spreading from the leaf tip to the leaf base, resulting in the death of the first half of the leaf. The plaque is light brown in the later stage. With the development of the disease, small black spots were produced on both the positive and negative sides of the leaf disease in the later stage, that is, the conidia disk of the pathogen.

The regularity of disease:

Overwintering with mycelium in diseased and deciduous leaves. When the temperature rises to about 15 degrees Celsius in the next spring, the hyphae begin to grow and spread, producing conidia and invading from the wound. At about 25 degrees Celsius, the incubation period is less than 7 days.

Prevention and control methods:

1. Cut off the withered branches and seriously diseased leaves in winter, remove the diseased leaves from the surface, and destroy them centrally.

In February, August and September, spray 1000 times of 50% dichlorothalonium aqueous agent, or 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder, or 1 Groupe and 100 Bordeaux solution, once every 7 seconds and 10 days for a total of 3 times.

Daily maintenance of cycads

1. Place of placement

Cycads should be placed in a sunny, warm, moist and well-ventilated place. It should be properly sheltered in summer, kept indoors in winter, and the minimum room temperature should not be less than 0 ℃.

2. Watering

During the peak growth period in spring and summer, it is advisable to keep the basin soil moist, but not stagnant water. When it is hot and hot, foliar water should be sprayed frequently. During the dormant period in winter, the basin soil should be properly dry, otherwise it is easy to cause rotten roots.

3. Fertilization

Topdressing should be applied frequently in the growing season, mainly nitrogen and potash fertilizer. Use rotten cake fertilizer and water or human feces and urine, generally should not be applied too much too thick. If an appropriate amount of ferrous sulfate is added to the fertilizer, the leaf color can become dark green and full of luster.

4. Pruning

Cycad pruning is relatively simple, generally after the new leaves are unfolded, the original withered yellow leaves are cut off, and the leaves that are too dense can also be thinned properly.

5. Turn the basin

It is carried out every 2-3 years, and the suitable time is spring and April. When turning the basin, pay attention to cut off the bad roots, replace about 2-3 cm of old soil, and cultivate the soil with new fattening. In addition, the bottom of the basin must be emptied and a layer of coarse sand must be placed to facilitate drainage.

Warm reminder: the cycad has a beautiful body, the terminal feathered leaves are oil-green and lovely, which can show the scenery of the south. It is a precious tree species for viewing leaves, suitable for all seasons. Old pole decorative bonsai, covered with traces of fallen leaves, spotted like fish scales, do not have charm. Cluster-type cycad bonsai, coupled with skillful stone, more elegant and interesting.
