What is amaranth? Explain the planting technology in detail!
Amaranth, also known as Chinese vegetables, red vegetables, etc., is a common vegetable in China, which is generally listed in May to August. It is deeply loved by people because of its good taste, high nutritional value and low price. What is amaranth? What are the planting techniques?
What is amaranth?
1. Amaranth is an annual herb of the genus amaranth of the family Caryophyllaceae. The stem is straight and stout, as high as 100cm, red or green, with many branches at the top, and each branch has green or red oval or lanceolate leaves that hang around.
2. Amaranth is a red vegetable, which contains natural amaranth red pigment. once cooked or fried at high temperature, it will make the red in the vacuole seep out, showing that the whole dish is red, and it tastes sweet and sweet, and even the fried dishes are soft and smooth.
3. Amaranth, also known as corn vegetable, is rich in protein, vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, iron and other nutrients that are easily absorbed by the human body. it has the effect of heat-clearing and detoxification, diuresis and dehumidification, and regular consumption can promote the growth of bones and teeth. At the same time, it can also promote detoxification and prevent constipation, so it is known as "longevity vegetable".
Second, what are the planting techniques of amaranth?
1. Land selection and preparation: which land is suitable for planting?
Amaranth is suitable to grow in a loose, fertile and alkaline environment, so try to choose alkaline loam or sandy loam for planting. After selecting the land, it is necessary to turn the soil deeply, apply 5000 kg of mature organic fertilizer per mu, and dig a ditch with wide 30cm and deep 20cm to make a field border about 1.2m wide for later planting.
2. Seed selection and soaking: how to soak the seeds?
Pick out some seeds that are damage-free, disease-free and glossy, then soak them in cold water for a day or so, then remove and drain the water, wrap it in gauze, cover it with a wet towel and put it in an environment of about 20 degrees to promote germination. After 50% of the seeds germinated, they can be planted on the seedling bed.
3. Sowing and raising seedlings: how to sow seeds?
(1) sowing time: February to March or April to May, if in North China and Northwest China, sowing in April to September.
(2) sowing method: sow the seeds evenly in the ditch, then cover the soil slowly and pour a small amount of water. If it is planted in spring, it can be planted deeper, if sown in summer, it can be shallower, and in winter, a layer of straw should be covered after sowing and covering the soil to promote its rooting.
(3) sowing density: generally, it is best to sow seeds of 250g / mu and 500g / mu.
4. Field management technology: what are the requirements for water and fertilizer?
(1) Water requirements: amaranth does not have high water requirements, generally as long as it keeps the soil moist, so it should be watered frequently during summer drought, and the rest of the time, the amount of water should be determined according to the dry humidity of the basin soil.
(2) Fertilizer requirements: amaranth does not have high requirements for fertilizer. Generally, when 3 true leaves grow at seedling stage, about 15 kg of ammonium fertilizer is applied per mu, and another 15 kg of ammonium fertilizer is applied per mu in about 20 days. After harvest, you can apply an appropriate amount of available nitrogen fertilizer.
(3) Prevention and control of diseases and insect pests: during the growth of amaranth, diseases and insect pests such as white rust and root-knot nematode disease will occur due to various factors, so prevention and control measures should be taken in advance. Chlorothalonil wettable powder or methyl isosaliphate emulsion can be used for control.
Generally speaking, amaranth is Chinese food and red vegetable, which is a kind of green leafy vegetable that oozes red after high temperature. it is not only heat-clearing and detoxification, but also diuresis and dehumidification, which is of great benefit to the body, so many people plant amaranth, and if you want to grow amaranth well, you need to do a good job in the management of water and fertilizer, diseases and insect pests.
