In spring again, flowers and trees have begun to grow new, and many people have begun to plant flowers and plants, so what is the best soil to grow flowers? Many people don't know it yet. Today, the editor will introduce to you all kinds of soil used to grow flowers.

1. Peat soil

Peat soil, that is, peat soil, formed in Quaternary, contains a large amount of thoroughly decomposed plant matrix, humus and some minerals. The content of organic matter in peat soil is as high as 70%, 80%, 40%, 50%. The interior of peat soil has a fibrous structure, loose and porous, aerated, and can effectively store nutrients and moisture. Generally, peat soil is not marked with acidophilic plants. The peat soil is artificially adjusted to pH (5.5-6.5), which is suitable for the cultivation of most plants.

2. Perlite

Perlite is a natural aluminum-silicon compound, which is a porous expansive material formed by crushed magmatic rock fired at a high temperature of more than 1000 degrees. It has the advantages of clean, light texture, free of bacteria and insect eggs. At the same time, perlite has good drainage and air permeability, and is widely used to improve soil permeability. It is a good matrix for ecological horticultural cultivation. Peat is cheap and easy to use, but the disadvantage is that it is light. It is easy to float everywhere in the process of blending, and it is also easy to float when watering.

3. Vermiculite

Vermiculite is a kind of magnesium-containing aluminosilicate with layered structure, which is similar to mica in shape. it is the product of weathering and alteration of natural minerals such as biotite, which is massive, flaky and granular. Its interlayer water molecules are volatilized by burning at high temperature, and their volume increases by 18-25 times. The color becomes golden or silver, and vermiculite has a high layer charge. Therefore, vermiculite has high cation exchange capacity and strong cation exchange adsorption capacity (that is, vermiculite has certain fertilizer retention and can release certain nutrient elements, but perlite does not have this characteristic). Vermiculite is commonly used as soil blending in horticulture, adding to the medium, it can play the role of looseness, air permeability, water conservation and fertilizer conservation, and is an important medium component of light soilless horticulture for sowing and covering. It can play a good moisturizing effect, and it is the best combination of cutting and sowing when used with seedling peat.

4. Red jade soil

Red jade soil is a deductive cultivation medium formed by the accumulation of volcanic ash, volcanic rock and pumice left over from volcanic eruptions in ancient Japan. It is known as "universal soil". The loose and breathable volcanic mud, aseptic, slightly acidic in pH value, has good water storage and drainage, and is suitable for the cultivation of all kinds of succulent plants, orchids, calamus and other higher plants. Red jade soil is a very convenient and clean high-quality plant material. Perlite has the advantages of perlite, it does not have the disadvantages of perlite, can be mixed with other soil for planting.

5. Maifan Stone

Maifan stone is a volcanic rock formed after volcanic eruption. it is clean, sterile and free of impurities, which contains a lot of mineral elements (potassium, phosphorus, rare trace elements, etc.). It is a mineral with many functions, which can increase beneficial trace elements in soil. It is hard, not easy to break, has strong adsorption and ion exchange properties, effectively absorbs harmful substances in medium and water, releases beneficial elements, and promotes root growth. It has a good function of purifying water quality, can effectively promote the growth of plants, make plants more erect and more stylish, at the same time, Maifan stone is also a good soil improver, activate minerals, can be reused.

6. Iridescent stone

Iridescent stone is a mixture of light stone, zeolite, volcanic stone, slow-release fertilizer and other medium. it is a new type of mixed medium of inorganic minerals, which has good air permeability, good water retention and fertilizer retention ability. it is a good medium for soil improvement and potted plants of succulent plants. it can be used alone or can be used for paving or mixing.

7. Loose scales

Pine scale is a new type of organic cultivation medium made from pine bark by crushing, ripening and fermentation. it has the advantages of good air permeability, water and fertilizer conservation, high organic matter content, cheap and easy to use, and does not have the trouble of floating everywhere. Because it is a natural product, it can also provide nutrients for plants after microbial decomposition, and pine scales can plant orchids, Dendrobium candidum, succulent plants and aerial root plants. It can also be covered with topsoil for decoration, water conservation and weed prevention, and can be placed at the bottom of the flowerpot to help drain, drain and breathe.

8. Diatomite

Diatomite is an excellent matrix component, and its water absorption and water retention properties are better than those of vermiculite and perlite. Using it as the basic soil, the ability of water absorption, water retention and fertilizer retention is stronger than that of other matrix formulations. The physiological and morphological indexes of flowers such as succulent plants and orchids are better, and the roots are not easy to rot. Diatomite powder or particles can be mixed into the plant material, or removed to the surface of the basin soil, and the powder is mixed in the soil. Particles scattered on the surface of the basin soil can prevent and kill small black flying larvae and root pink scale.

9. Ceramsite

The ceramsite for growing flowers is fired at high temperature, which is porous, breathable, aseptic, pollution-free, light, convenient for transportation, high surface strength, not easy to break, can be used repeatedly, and has good water and fertilizer retention properties. the pores inside the ceramsite are full of air when there is no water, and when there is sufficient water, part of the gas space can be maintained by inhaling some water, and when there is not enough water around the root system. The water in the ceramsite diffuses into the pores between the ceramsite through its surface to absorb and maintain the air humidity around the root system, which is widely used in the planting of hydroponic plants and bottom drainage.

The above is the introduction of the soil for growing flowers by the editor. Different kinds of plants have different requirements for soil, and the use of soil depends on the specific species.
