During the 12th five-year Plan period, with the support of the central financial funds, the National Animal Husbandry General Station closely joined with colleges and universities and scientific research institutes to organize the identification and evaluation of grass germplasm resources, gene mining, germplasm creation, sharing and utilization, and so on. it has effectively promoted the development of grass seed industry.
Carry out identification and evaluation, establish agronomic character evaluation index system and comprehensive resistance evaluation index system, and use the selected excellent germplasm to cultivate 18 new varieties. Mining new genes, using RT-PCR and RACE techniques, cloned 6 functional genes such as alfalfa MsSTP, and created 19 new germplasms with excellent comprehensive characters, such as alfalfa and Stylosanthes by space mutagenesis and molecular marker-assisted selection. A sharing platform was established, a national grass germplasm resources protection and management system was developed, and an information and physical sharing service platform was established to provide physical and information support for grass research, teaching, production and ecological construction.
