Since the purchase of wheat in Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui, Henan, and Shandong at the end of May, and the purchase of early indica rice in Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Hubei at the end of July, the acquisition work has been steady and orderly, and has now come to an end. As of September 10, the total purchase of wheat in the stored grain market was 19.52 million tons, a decrease of 23% compared with the same period last year, mainly due to the over-standard imperfect grains of wheat in Hubei, Anhui and Henan provinces, and 2.75 million tons of early indica rice were purchased in the market, a decrease of 26% over the same period last year. This is mainly due to the fact that there are more buds and less full grains in Jiangxi and other places than in previous years.

The person in charge of China Grain Reserve said that in the purchase of summer grain to support the market this year, China Grain Reserve, as the main body of policy entrusted by the state, strictly implements the purchase standards set by the state, such as imperfect wheat grains less than 10%. Strictly supervise the entrustment point not to lower the level and price to harm the interests of farmers, nor shall it arbitrarily relax the purchase standards to harm the interests of the country. At the same time, the relevant enterprises directly under China Grain Storage actively provide farmers with technical guidance on single harvest and storage and grain protection in rainy season, using their customer resources to help farmers sell super-standard grain and help them reduce disaster losses.

It is reported that in view of the fact that the imperfect grains of wheat in some areas exceed the standard, the relevant state departments have issued a notice a few days ago, requesting the people's governments at the provincial level to organize special acquisitions in accordance with the spirit of the provincial governor's responsibility system for food security, and the necessary cost subsidies will be borne by local governments. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen quality and safety supervision over the purchase, processing, and sale of wheat with imperfect grains exceeding the standard, so as to prevent wheat that does not meet food safety standards from entering the food rations or feed market.
