Melons, also known as cantaloupe, Bailan melon, taste sweet, more moisture, very popular, the market is better, but there are also some problems in the cultivation of melons, today the editor will talk about how to sweeten melons?

1. Rational fertilization

Reasonable fertilization can improve the quality of muskmelon and increase its sugar content. Sufficient basic fertilizer should be applied before planting. 2000-3000 kg of rotten farm manure can be applied per mu, with 150,200kg potassium sulfate compound fertilizer. When muskmelon grows to the size of an egg, it is necessary to apply fertilizer in time. Muskmelon is a potassium-loving plant. Muskmelon is a potassium-loving plant. Increasing potassium fertilizer can improve melon variety and yield. In addition, when the plant has element deficiency, its growth node is blocked, and its yield and quality will decline, so it needs to be solved by spraying micro-fertilizer. Foliar spraying of low concentration of calcium chloride and boric acid can be carried out after sitting melon. Once a week, 2-3 times in a row, supplement the nutrients needed by the plant, while spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate foliar fertilizer in the later stage can obviously increase the yield and improve the quality.

2. Increase the temperature difference between day and night

The fruit needs sufficient light and a large temperature difference between day and night during ripening, which is beneficial to the accumulation of sugar in the fruit. During the fruit period, ventilation is reduced during the day to increase the room temperature. The synthesis of sugar in the fruit at 35 degrees is twice as high as that at 10 degrees. At night, ventilation should be strengthened and room temperature should be reduced, so as to artificially create an environment of temperature difference between day and night. If the temperature at night is too high, the leaves breathe more, and carbohydrates are consumed more. It will reduce the sugar content and make the melon not sweet.

3. Control moisture

During the normal growth of muskmelon, water and nitrogen should be properly controlled after the fruit enters the ripening stage, because excessive nitrogen is absorbed during fruit ripening, unstable intermediates such as nitrate in the plant will accumulate, resulting in overgrowth of the plant and easy to cause disease. the same is true of water. When too much water is irrigated during sugar accumulation, the fruit will expand rapidly and dilute the sugar content, resulting in melon not sweet. Therefore, it is necessary to control the water intake during the growing period of melons.

4. Ripe harvest

The quality of muskmelon is closely related to the ripening of the fruit. When the fruit is not fully ripe, the sugar in the fruit has not been completely transformed, so the sweetness is too low and the aroma is insufficient. If the fruit is harvested too late, the storage substances in the fruit are exhausted and too old. The tissue becomes soft, resulting in a lack of taste, so it should be harvested in time when the melon is ripe.

The above is the sweetening method suggested by the editor. I hope it can help the growers!
