Litchi stink bug is a kind of fruit tree pest and has no medicinal value. It is mainly harmful to litchi and longan, but also to other plants of the disease-free family. The distribution areas in China include Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other provinces and regions, as well as in South and Southeast Asian countries.

An introduction to the litchi bugs:

1. Litchi bug bug food damage

The adults and nymphs of litchi bugs all suck the juice of twigs, flowers and young fruits, resulting in falling flowers and fruits. The odorous liquid secreted by it touches the stamens, tender leaves and young fruits, which can lead to the death of the contact site, seriously affect the yield, or even no harvest.

two。 The living habits of litchi stink bugs

It occurs one generation a year, overwintering with adults on the thick foliage or on the back of the old leaves. The activity resumed in March and April of the following year and laid eggs on the back of the leaves. Nymphs are in full bloom in May and June. The nymph has a total of 5 years old and lasts for about 2 months. Most of the nymphs become adults in July and enter the overwintering period after cold weather. Nymphs and adults suck the juices of tender shoots, spikes and young fruits of litchi and longan, resulting in flower and fruit drop. In case of disturbance, often eject odorous liquid for self-defense, touch the tender shoots, and the young fruit will become scorched brown.

3. Control methods of litchi bugs

① agricultural control. In the period of low temperature in winter (below 10 ℃), the litchi bug was frozen and not easy to take off, and suddenly shook the branches violently, causing the overwintering adults to fall to the ground and burn them to the ground.

Chemical control of ②. Before the overwintering adults lay a large number of eggs in early spring, the overwintering adults were killed by spraying trichlorfon solution (800-1000 times). When the nymphs were sprayed for the second time, the 3rd instar nymphs were wiped out in large quantities. The areas with high insect population density should be sprayed comprehensively, the areas with small insect population density and few flowering fruit trees should be mainly applied, and a large area of litchi should be controlled by aircraft.

Litchi bugs do great harm to the growth and yield of fruit trees, so farmers must spray drugs in advance to do a good job of prevention, especially longan and litchi growers should pay more attention.
