Bamboo begonia is a perennial herb of begonia family, with obvious bamboo-like nodes on its stem, dark green on the surface of leaves, dark red on the back, light red or white flowers, flower shape and leaf color. Many people want to keep a pot. The following is to introduce the culture method of bamboo begonia.

I. Culture methods of bamboo begonia

1. Soil: loose and fertile neutral soil.

The soil of bamboo begonia should be loose and fertile, compost soil, rotten leaf soil and charcoal soil can be used, neutral soil with pH 6.5-7.5 should not be used, which is not conducive to the growth of new roots, resulting in short stems and leaves and dim color. It is easy to cause yellowing disease.

2. Sowing: April-May in spring or September-October in autumn.

Sowing seeds in shallow tile pots or sowing boxes can be carried out indoors or in a greenhouse, preferably from April to May in spring or September to October in autumn; put soil in the basin, spread the seeds evenly, and gently press them with wooden boards. The basin was soaked, wet and removed, and then covered with translucent glass to keep a high humidity in the basin, and then preserved in the semi-shade of 18-22 ℃ at room temperature, usually germinated for 7-30 days.

Temperature: warm in winter and cool in summer.

The bamboo begonia grows rapidly in the warm environment, the stems and leaves are luxuriant, the flowers are bright, the suitable temperature for growth is 19-24 ℃, and the winter temperature is not lower than 10 ℃, otherwise the leaves are easy to freeze, but the roots are more hardy.

4. Illumination: half yin and half yang, avoid strong light.

Bamboo begonia is generally suitable for growth in morning light and scattered light, and it is easy to cause leaf burns under strong light, and the response to photoperiod is also very obvious, and the flowering period is obviously delayed under the condition of short day light and night temperature of 21 ℃.

5. Moisture: provide enough water and spray several times a day.

Bamboo begonia needs sufficient water and high air humidity, and the amount of water supply should not be too small, so as not to wilt and lodge easily in stems and leaves, and not too much, so as to avoid rotting roots, and the water supply in winter should be reduced accordingly; in addition, the relative humidity should be kept at 56% 60% after spraying several times a day.

6. Fertilization: drip irrigation or underground irrigation.

Drip irrigation or other underground irrigation can be used for fertilization, which can reduce the occurrence of bacterial leaf spot disease and other diseases, the proportion of fertilizer should be N:P:K at 3:1:2 or 2:1:2, and trace elements should be supplemented, and the fertilizer concentration should not be too high to avoid root burning.

7, disease: timely treatment, usually do a good job of prevention.

The diseases of bamboo begonia include leaf spot, gray mold, root rot, sudden fall, Fusarium wilt and so on. After the disease occurs, the corresponding drugs should be used in time to avoid the spread of the disease. After discovering the diseased plants, the disease should be destroyed in time, and the prevention work should be done in peacetime. Reduce and inhibit the occurrence of diseases.

Second, the cutting method of bamboo begonia

In addition to sowing seeds, bamboo begonia can also be cut, and stem, leaf and rhizome cuttings can be used.

1, stem cutting: under greenhouse conditions, it can be carried out all year round, but April-May is the best; do cuttings at the top of a robust stem with 2-3 buds and 10-15 cm long, without flower buds, so as not to affect rooting; cuttings should not be buried too deep, only half, and maintain high air humidity and 20-22 ℃ room temperature, 9-27 days to root.

2. Leaf insertion: greenhouse cultivation can be carried out all year round, but it is best in summer and autumn; put fully developed mature leaves flat on the sand bed, cut 1 cm with a blade at the central main vein of the leaves, fasten the leaves on the sand surface with "n" wire, and then, just keep the appropriate temperature and humidity.

3. Rhizome insertion: in spring and autumn, cut the lower rhizome into 3-5 cm nodes, oblique or flat on the sand bed, keep room temperature 20-22 ℃ and high indoor humidity, grow adventitious roots in 15-20 days, sprout adventitious buds in 30-40 days, and transplant when several leaflets are formed.

The above is the introduction of the culture and cutting methods of bamboo begonia. I hope it will be useful to you.
