Potted apples bear fruit for several years
Potted apple trees generally take 2-3 years to bear fruit, and if grafted seedlings, it takes 2-3 years to bear fruit. For 4-5-year-old apple trees, each tree can bear 10-15 fruit. If it is a seedling with natural seed growth, it will only blossom and bear fruit for 6-9 years. The cultivation and management techniques are as follows:
1. Selection of pots and preparation of nutritious soil
Tile basin has good ventilation and drainage performance, which is beneficial to root growth. The tile basin with diameter 30cm, bottom diameter 20cm and high 30cm with drainage holes can be selected. When preparing nutritious soil, local materials can be used: 5 parts of fertile vegetable garden soil, 2 parts of screened cinder, 2 parts of rotten barnyard manure, 1 part of rotten sawdust and bone powder fermentation fertilizer, and then 10 g potassium dihydrogen phosphate was added to mix evenly and sifted.
2. Upper basin
Potted apple trees had better be self-bred and self-planted, and the grafted seedlings with strong plants, full bud eyes and no diseases and insect pests were selected and planted in the first and middle of March. When planting, the roots were soaked and disinfected with a 5-degree stone-sulfur mixture, and the necrotic roots were cut off. First, put a small amount of nutritious soil into the pot bottom, put into the seedlings, distribute the roots evenly, bury the soil and compact them, and water them in time to ensure survival.
3. Fertilizer and water management
0.1% borax solution was sprayed at the peak of flowering. Since May, liquid fertilizer has been applied once every 10 days, mainly with 200 times liquid organic cake fertilizer, supplemented by 0.2% inorganic liquid fertilizer, such as urea, diammonium, ammonium sulfate and so on. More phosphorus and potassium fertilizer was needed in the post-anthesis fruit expansion period, and the effect of topdressing liquid fertilizer on roots and leaves was better. When the water evaporation is large in the summer high temperature season, the water should be watered twice a day. In spring and autumn, according to the soil conditions in the basin, it can be watered once every 1-2 days.
