Cyclamen is a very common indoor ornamental plant, its bright color, charming fragrance, long oval petals slightly upward roll, live like rabbit ears, posture Jiao Han, deeply loved by people. It is easier to buy flowers than to grow them, so it is difficult to nourish and care the flowers better. Here, the editor brings you an introduction of cyclamen culture methods and key points that need to be paid attention to.

Life habits

If you want to raise its flowers, you must first understand its living habits.

Cyclamen likes warmth, is afraid of heat, is more hardy, and is free from cold at about 0 ℃. Its growing season is from autumn to spring of the second year. It is semi-dormant in summer, and the suitable growth temperature in winter is between 12 and 16 ℃, which should not exceed 22 ℃ when promoting flowering. More than 35 ℃ will cause rot and death of flower branches. Although it is resistant to low temperature, it grows slowly when the temperature is less than 5 ℃, and the flower color is dim and the flowering is few. If carbon dioxide is provided for flower planting in winter, it can promote growth and flowering. During the growing period, an environment with moist air and plenty of sunshine is required.

Culture method

Here are two culture methods that are easy to operate every day.

1. Sowing and reproduction: first, select the seeds with uniform size and full particles, and disinfect them with alcohol before sowing, with a concentration of 75%. After disinfection, soak in warm hot water for one day and then sow seeds.

Or wrap the seeds with gauze and soak them in warm hot water for a day. After soaking, scrub the seed coat clean and sow the seeds.

The growth environment after sowing had better be kept at about 18 ℃, and the humidity was about 90%. It could germinate after about three weeks, and the seedlings could emerge after one month.

2. Stem-cutting propagation: after flowering, healthy plants without disease are generally selected. if new buds sprout on the mother corms, the bulbs around the mother bulbs can be separated and planted separately. It should be noted here that because the cut is prone to pollution and decay, the tools should be disinfected before ramet to avoid unnecessary infection. Plant ash is sprinkled on the cut in time, and the separated bulbs can be planted in another pot after drying.

Matters needing attention

1. Soil: the soil should be loose, permeable, fertile and well drained, and the soil is neutral.

2. Fertilization: cyclamen has a moderate requirement for fertility. You can apply a low concentration of potassium phosphate fertilizer in the spring and autumn growth period. Remember not to apply excessive nitrogen fertilizer during flowering, otherwise the branches and leaves will grow very fast, and the flowers will wither and fall ahead of time. Compound fertilizer, soybean meal fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer are all good.

3. Temperature: like warm climate, the best growth temperature is 10-20 degrees; below 5 degrees, the growth rate is slow; if it is higher than 30 degrees, the plant will enter a dormant period; if it is higher than 35 degrees, the plant will rot and die; therefore, the summer temperature should not be higher than 30 degrees. Winter temperature should not be lower than 0 degrees.

4. Lighting: although cyclamen likes light, it can not be exposed for a long time. There is a great demand for light in winter and proper shade in summer.

5. Watering: cyclamen belongs to bulbous plants and has strong water storage capacity, so the amount of water must be controlled. Daily water replenishment should be mainly based on soaking basin method, supplemented by watering. Too much water can easily lead to root rot and death.

6. Ventilation: put it in a ventilated place, otherwise the petals will fall easily.

7. Diseases and insect pests: cyclamen has many diseases. In the process of breeding, attention must be paid to the prevention of diseases and timely treatment should be taken when diseases are found. Prevention and treatment of ① leaf spot disease: strengthen ventilation to cyclamen; spray 200x equivalent Bordeaux liquid. The treatment of ② soft rot: strengthen the ventilation of cyclamen; drain the cyclamen to protect against rain; spray 200x Bordeaux liquid. The treatment method of ③ nematode: change the new soil, and the new soil should be disinfected. Irrigate 1000 times laundry powder solution for prevention and control.

Cyclamen breeding methods and we should pay attention to the main points in the cultivation process is probably so much, as long as you take good care of, careful cultivation, there will be some harvest.
