Last Updated: 2024/12/23, 1. Forsythia suspensa likes warm and humid environment and sufficient light, but it is not afraid of shade, and its cold resistance is relatively strong. It has low requirements for soil, drought and barren, but it is afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, when planting, we should choose deep soil layer, loose soil and row.

1. Land selection and preparation

Forsythia likes warm and humid environment, likes sufficient light, but is not afraid of shade, cold tolerance is also strong, it does not require high soil, drought and barren, but afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, when planting, we should choose the soil with deep soil layer, loose soil and good drainage, which can avoid the phenomenon of stagnant water retting roots. Apply base fertilizer before soil preparation, generally apply 4000-5000 kg of farm manure per mu, reduce the depth of ploughing by 30 cm, mix it evenly with the soil, rake fine and level it, and make the border after raking, requiring the bed to be 15cm high, 1.5m wide and 20-25cm wide.

2. Sowing seeds

Before sowing, the seeds should first be soaked in gibberellin alcohol for 4 hours, so that the dormancy period of forsythia seeds can be broken, and then the seeds and wet river sand will be mixed together and placed in an environment of 10-20 degrees to germinate, which will sprout in about one month. Sowing uses the method of strip sowing, sow the sprouted planting well, and then cover it with grass curtains, its heat preservation and moisturizing effect, the seedlings can emerge in the second year.

3. Planting management

When the seedlings grow to a certain extent, they can be transplanted and planted, apply a small amount of compound fertilizer, and then put the seedlings into the pit, and then cover the soil higher than the ground, so that it is not easy to accumulate water. In the seedling growth, we should pay attention to the weeds in the field and weed frequently to promote the seedling growth. When Forsythia suspensa grows to 80-100 cm, it is necessary to trim the top shoot, which can promote the growth of lateral branches, leaving 3-4 lateral branches on each seedling. In winter, old branches, diseased branches, weak branches, long branches, disease and insect branches should all be cut off to reduce nutrient consumption and prevent diseases and insect pests. Water and fertilizer is essential for the growth of Forsythia suspensa, which should be carried out according to the soil conditions, climatic factors and plant growth status of each region.
