Strawberry cultivation requires attention to variety selection, selection of suitable containers, planting methods, fertilizer and water management, as well as plant management and harvesting. Strawberry planting takes about three years as a cycle, which requires patient cultivation and care in order to achieve maximum economic benefits.

Matters needing attention in strawberry planting

1. Variety selection

All strawberry varieties are suitable for potted plants, but it is better to choose Fengxiang and Xintun No.1 with large fruit and strong growth.

2. Container

Flowerpots are available. Flowerpots use 20-33 cm * 20-33 cm mud pots. Soak the pots in water before planting.

3. Culture soil: it is best to use humus soil on the surface of broad-leaved forest, or evenly mix pastoral soil, rotten barnyard manure and river sand, and then add 2-3% calcium superphosphate.

4. Planting method

1-3 strawberries can be planted in a flowerpot, or varieties with different maturity can be planted together to pollinate each other and prolong the ornamental and edible period.

5. Fertilizer and water management

Potted strawberries are fertilized once every 7-10 days, and it is best to use 10-30% cake fertilizer, fish offal or poultry viscera to fully ferment and mature the mixture every 10 days or so, so as to achieve less application, frequent application, and watering.

6. Plant management

The young stolons should be removed in time. If for the purpose of ornamental, do not let it bear fruit, you can leave the stolon. Make it grow clumps of leaves naturally drooping, hanging up, cultivated into a strawberry bonsai like hanging orchid.
