The growth cycle of heading lettuce was 100-120 days, and that of non-heading lettuce was 60-90 days. For non-heading lettuce, seedling transplanting in spring and autumn, seedling stage about 25 days, harvest about 35 days after transplanting, direct seeding in summer, about 35 days after sowing, seedling transplanting in winter, seedling stage about 30 days, harvest about 50 days after transplanting.

The growth cycle of lettuce in the growth stage

Lettuce goes through four stages, namely, germination stage, seedling stage, rosette stage and heading stage.

1. Germination period: it takes about 8 to 10 days for the seed to germinate to the cotyledon to unfold. The lowest temperature for germination of lettuce seeds was 4 ℃, and the optimum temperature for germination was 15-20 ℃. The uniformity of germination was poor when it was lower than 15 ℃. When it was higher than 25 ℃, the germination rate of seeds blocked by water absorption of seed coat decreased significantly, and the germination of seeds over 30 ℃ was blocked.

2. Seedling stage: it takes about 20-25 days from the true leaf to the first leaf to spread out, commonly known as "around the plant", and the optimum growth temperature is 16-20 ℃.

3. Rosette stage: from the encirclement to the completion of the second leaf, the heart leaves begin to curl, which takes about 15-30 days, and the optimum temperature for growth is 18-22 ℃. During this period, the leaf area expanded rapidly, which was the key period for the formation of product organs.

4. Heading period: it takes about 35-40 days for the heart leaf to roll up into a hypertrophic leaf ball.
