Continuous cropping techniques of watermelon

Firstly, select the land with few diseases, deeply turn the soil before winter, apply base fertilizer according to requirements after spring, and backfill melon ditch; secondly, combine garden cleaning with wrong row sowing, and adopt chemical prevention, mainly by irrigation of roots, combined with foliar spraying. Third, do not take the method of dark pressure vine, but take the method of open pressure, if necessary, take grafting cultivation measures, fertilization is best to apply organic fertilizer.

(1) Select a less diseased plot. In the first year, when there were no or very few dead seedlings due to Fusarium wilt in the melon field, it indicated that there were very few Fusarium wilt in the field. Watermelon can be planted continuously in the second year of such land, but corresponding measures should be taken.

(2) Deep frosting before winter. The plot to be planted with continuous cropping watermelon is deeply turned before winter of the previous year, and melon ditches are dug according to row spacing, and frozen soil is planted. After the beginning of spring, apply base fertilizer according to requirements and backfill melon ditch. This can freeze underground pests and reduce the occurrence of blight.

(3) Combination of garden cleaning and staggered sowing. After the first year of watermelon vine pulling, the melon field should be cleaned up in time to remove all residual branches and leaves. Continuous cropping melon rows should be staggered with the previous crop melon rows, and the staggered distance should reach 60 cm. In addition, can't throw melon vine casually in the irrigation ditch of the field edge, otherwise, the pathogen will return to the melon field with irrigation.

(4) Use of preventive medicine. The use of fungicides is not recommended. Because the sterile environment is formed after using the fungicide, harmful bacteria are easier to breed than beneficial bacteria, and it is difficult to completely solve the problem of watermelon continuous cropping disease. The application method is mainly root irrigation, combined with foliar spraying.

(5) Do not press the vine deeply. In order to reduce the chance of infection, the method of dark pressing vine is generally not adopted, but the method of open pressing is adopted.

(6) Grafting cultivation. Grafting cultivation measures should be taken if the disease of watermelon in the previous crop is serious, because grafting can avoid or reduce the infection of Fusarium wilt.

(7) Application of organic fertilizer. It can quickly fertilize soil, supplement organic matter, inhibit a variety of soil-borne disease pathogens in soil, and reduce watermelon incidence.
