To grow kumquat, we should choose plain or hilly land, and the soil should be a slightly acidic sandy loam with deep soil layer, loose soil and good drainage. After selecting the plot, ploughing deeply, building beds, applying basic fertilizer, and then sowing the seeds in spring or November, watering them, and then covering them with straw. After emergence, you can do a good job in the management of fertilization, watering, loosening soil, weeding, pruning and so on.

1. Select the place

To choose plain or hilly land, the soil should be a slightly acidic sandy loam with deep soil layer, loose soil and good drainage. After selecting a plot, the soil should be ploughed deeply before sowing, and then ploughed again in the spring of the following year, with a depth of more than one meter, and then build a bed.

2. Sowing seeds

It can be done in the spring or in November. First apply enough base fertilizer to the soil, then sow the seeds, water them after sowing, and then cover them with straw. It is necessary to control the planting density, not too dense.

3. Management

(1) Seedling management: when the seedlings do not grow, they should be watered several times to make the soil softer. Fertilizer should be applied when the seedlings grow, and do not touch the leaves of the seedlings so as not to burn the seedlings. Weeding should be done before fertilizing. After the seedlings grow out, we should also check in time to see if there is any phenomenon of dead seedlings, and if so, replant them in time.

(2) watering during the growing period: keep the soil moderately moist during the growth period and do not accumulate water to avoid rotting roots. Dry and windy weather in spring needs to spray water on the leaves once a day; spray water 2 or 3 times a day in summer, and spray water to the ground; avoid spraying water during flowering to prevent rotten flowers; keep the soil dry and wet from white flowering to young fruit.

(3) fertilization during the growth period: from the beginning of new bud germination to before flowering, mature shallow jam residue water can be applied every 7-10 days, and alum fertilizer water can be poured several times alternately. It is advisable to apply more phosphate fertilizer after summer; as a result, fertilization should be suspended at the initial stage, and liquid fertilizer should be applied once a week until the end of September when the young fruit grows to about 1 cm in size.

(4) pruning: a re-pruning is carried out when the spring buds have not yet germinated, cutting off withered branches, disease and insect branches, overdense branches and growing branches. Fruit thinning can be carried out after the young fruit is born, the stout branches leave 2-3 fruits per plant, and the weak branches retain one fruit per branch; cut off the autumn in time so as not to make the second fruit.

(5) Diseases and insects: the main diseases are canker and anthrax, which can be sprayed with 600 times of benzoyl ammonium or 600 times of acetaminophen. Insect pests include yellow butterflies, spraying 1000 times of 50% fenitrothion or 1000 times of dichlorvos at larval stage.
