Camellia can be planted by cutting or grafting, and the soil with good air permeability can be selected by the combination of sandy loam and rotten leaf soil. Camellias like to grow in a warm environment, so it is necessary to ensure water and nutrients to prevent them from wilting. Post-anthesis treatment is mainly pruning and picking residual flowers, and do not cultivate them in a stuffy and airtight environment.

Planting techniques of Camellia

1. Soil: it is suitable for organic sandy loam with good drainage, water retention and good air permeability. It is most ideal to use 60% sandy loam + 40% rotten leaf soil.

Third, irrigation water supply: like wetting, good drainage. Therefore, timely water supply should be provided, especially against the phenomenon of western sun drying due to lack of water in summer or the radiation heat injury of buildings, so as not to hinder its growth. When the flower buds are divided into flowers, the water should not be cut off or short of water, so as not to cause the flowers to fall easily.

Fourth, fertilization: organic fertilizer can be mainly supplied: bone meal, plant ash, oil meal. Or superphosphate lime, potassium chloride. Its N-P-K ratio is 5-3-2, heavy fertilizer can be applied after flowering, fertilization, especially nitrogen fertilizer, is avoided during flower bud differentiation from May to July, so as to avoid only leaf bud germination.

Fifth, picking buds: the flower bud differentiation of camellias is mostly in June, but when picking buds, the buds as big as soybeans can only be carried out between September and November. The principle of picking buds is that there is only one bud per flower bud, and the bud must be upward, and the new bud should not be hurt.

6. Post-anthesis treatment: from December to January, the residual flowers should be removed as soon as possible and fertilized immediately, only 2-3 new buds should be retained at the base of the branch, and the rest of the top can be removed. From April to May, it is necessary to reduce the water supply so that the branches of the new buds will not elongate too much, so as to avoid the decrease of the number of bud sprouts in the subsequent flower bud differentiation. The cultivation place should be cultivated in a cool environment with half-day sunshine and good ventilation. Avoid cultivation in hot, airtight, wet or dry areas.
