Where is the origin of Cistanche deserticola?
Cistanche deserticola is produced in Inner Mongolia (Azuo Banner), Ningxia, Gansu (Changma) and Hetian, Xinjiang. The type specimen was collected from Alashan Banner, Bayannaoer League, Inner Mongolia.

Seed propagation: dig seedbed in the east or southeast direction of wild shuttle, 50- 80cm away from host, seedbed size is different, length is 1- 2m, width is about 1m, depth is 50- 80cm; or host dense place, dig a large seedbed ditch to surround many hosts, sow seeds on seedbed, apply camel dung, cattle and sheep dung, etc., cover soil 30- 40cm. Leave grooves or seedbed pits above for watering. The artificial shuttle forest grows neatly and in rows, and can be ditched on both sides of the plant as seedbed. After sowing, keep the seedbed moist and induce host roots to extend to the seedbed. Sowing in spring or autumn, Cistanche deserticola parasitizes in some seedbeds in the second year, a few grow out of the ground, and most of them grow out and bear fruit within 2-4 years after sowing.
