The sandy soil with deep soil layer, fertile soil and good drainage function is the best for planting Sophora flavescens, and the soil is slightly acidic. Generally sow seeds in mid-March, late March to early and late April. Soak the seeds in 40-50 warm water for 10-12 hours before sowing, and cover them with fine fertile soil mixed with plant ash after sowing. In the future, we can do a good job in the management of seedlings, replenishing seedlings, topdressing, weeding, loosening soil and so on.

1. Soil preparation: Sophora flavescens does not have strict requirements on soil, generally, it can grow on sandy soil and clay soil, but the sandy soil with deep, fertile and good drainage function is better, and the soil is preferably acidic. After selecting the land, the soil depth was leveled, the residual roots, dead branches, stones and weeds in the soil were removed, and sufficient base fertilizer was applied before ploughing to form a high border with wide 120cm, wide 30cm, deep 20cm, tile back shape, and drainage ditches were opened all around.

2. Sowing: it is generally carried out from mid-March to early and late April. Before sowing, soak the seeds in 40-50 warm water for 10-12 hours, take out to dry slightly, open holes according to row spacing 50-60cm, plant spacing 30-40cm, hole depth 4-5cm, sow 4-5 seeds in each hole. After sowing, the seedlings were covered with fine fertile soil mixed with plant ash and 1.5 cm thick, 1.5 cm, 2.0 cm, and emerged 15-20 days later. When the height of seedlings was 6-10cm, 2-3 strong seedlings were left in each hole.

3. Management: when the seedling height is 17-20cm, the seedlings are uniform and replenished, leaving 3-4 strong seedlings in each hole. If there is a lack of seedlings, they should be replanted with soil seedlings in overcast and rainy days. Topdressing was carried out twice a year, the first time was carried out 10-20 days after seedling setting, 22500kg manure was applied per hectare, and the second time was carried out before flowering, mainly manure and barnyard manure. Weeding and loosening the soil should be done frequently before the closure, and the loosening of the soil should be shallow to prevent damage to the ginseng roots, and the soil should not be loosened after sealing. When entering the flowering stage, in addition to keeping the planting plants, the whole inflorescence with buds should be removed in time to concentrate nutrients.
