Because soybean has symbiotic nitrogen-fixing rhizobia, it can fix gaseous nitrogen in the air through the action of rhizobium, so it is generally unnecessary to apply nitrogen fertilizer. It is estimated that one mu of soybean rhizobia can convert nitrogen in the air into nitrogen that can be used by plants every year, which is about the same as that in 30kg ammonium sulfate.
