Nansha participates in the distinction between North American ginseng

Nansha ginseng, also known as Radix Glehniae and Radix Scutellariae, is thick in shape, loose in quality and poor in efficacy. It specializes in entering the "lungs" and is partial to clearing lungs, eliminating phlegm and relieving cough.

North sand ginseng, also known as north ginseng, thin ginseng, its shape is slender, strong and dense, the effect is better, specializing in entering the "stomach", partial to nourishing yin and promoting fluid to quench thirst.

The sexual taste and function of Nansha ginseng is similar to that of Radix Glehniae, but its effect is weaker than that of Radix Scutellariae. In addition, it has the effect of eliminating phlegm and replenishing qi slightly. It is suitable for deficiency of qi and fluid after lung dryness and cough and febrile disease.

Radix Pseudostellariae is a perennial herb, 5-20cm high. The whole plant is white pilose. Taproot slender, cylindric, as long as 30cm, 0. 5-1.5cm thick, rarely branched. The aboveground part of the stem is shorter and the underground part is elongated.

Nansha ginseng has white milk. Stem height 50~100cm. Cauline leaves alternate, narrowly ovate or rectangular-rounded narrowly ovate, long 3~9cm, broad 1.5~4cm, margin irregularly serrate.

The roots and rhizomes of Radix Glehniae contain many kinds of coumarin compounds: psoralen (psoralen), mandarin (bergapten), xanthotoxin (xanthotoxin), isoimperatorin (isoimperatorin), imperatorin (imperatorin).

Radix Scutellariae contains triterpenoid saponins and xanthotoxin,ammoidin, namely 8-methoxypsoralen.
