The soil for culturing Phyllostachys pubescens can be prepared with fertile sandy loam, humus, peat or fine sandy soil with a small amount of base fertilizer. It is appropriate to keep it in a bright place and avoid hot sun exposure in summer. Keep the temperature above 15 degrees and above 4 degrees in winter. Keep the basin soil moist and apply dilute liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks in the growing season. Cut off the withered old yellow leaves at the right time and turn the basin once a year in March.

1. Soil: Phyllostachys pubescens has strong adaptability to soil, but the acid soil with deep, fertile, moist and good drainage is the most suitable. Fertile sandy loam, humus soil, peat soil or fine sandy soil can be used as pot soil.

2. Lighting: purple bamboo hanging orchid prefers semi-overcast environment, which should be kept indoors near the windowsill and other bright places for maintenance. If you put it outdoors, avoid sun exposure when the summer temperature is too high, and move to indoor warmth when the winter temperature is too low.

3. Temperature: purple bamboo hanging orchid likes warm climate, and the suitable temperature is above 15 degrees; it is more resistant to high temperature, even in the high temperature weather above 30 degrees in summer, as long as it can avoid hot sun exposure; but its cold resistance is weak. It is necessary to keep the temperature above 4 degrees in winter to survive the winter safely.

4. Watering: purple bamboo hanging orchid likes the humid environment, the basin soil should always be kept moist, usually only need to keep normal watering. Summer can increase watering, but also often spray water to the leaves; less watering in winter, basin soil should not be too wet, otherwise the leaves are easy to yellowing.

5. Fertilization: rarefied liquid fertilizer is applied every two weeks in the growing season, generally there is no need to apply nitrogen fertilizer, even if nitrogen fertilizer is applied, it is better to be thin enough. Less fertilizer should be applied when the ambient temperature is too low, especially when the winter temperature is lower than 4 degrees, the plant will go into dormancy, and topdressing should be stopped immediately.

6. Pruning: the withered and old yellow leaves can be cut off at the right time, and some old leaves can also be cut off in May every year to promote the germination of more new leaves. The basin can be turned once a year in March to cut off the old root, rotten root and excess fibrous root.
