Hemp planting in Heilongjiang has a long history. Before the 1980s, it was planted about 800,000 mu every year. At present, Heilongjiang is the province with the largest hemp planting area in China, accounting for more than 60% of the national planting area.

Hemp industry has been listed as a new growth area in Heilongjiang Province, which will play an important role in adjusting agricultural planting structure and realizing "farm head and work tail".
