Alfalfa is a kind of forage grass with the largest cultivated area in China, with high yield and excellent grass quality. So, how to grow alfalfa? Let's take a look.

1. Sowing time: you can sow seeds all the year round.

Sowing rate: 1-1.2Kg/ mu.

Sowing method: open soil moisture and pull line sowing, soil moisture width 1.5m, row spacing 20cm, sowing width 5cm, sowing 6 lines per soil moisture, suppressing after sowing.

2. Field management: fine management at seedling stage, manual pulling out weeds and weeding in middle ploughing, which should be carried out immediately after each cutting.

3. Fertilization: 2000 kg of farm manure and 50 kg of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus are applied per mu. Topdressing was applied after irrigation according to soil fertility after each cutting.

4. Irrigation and drainage: irrigation immediately after sowing in sunny days, but water can not spread over the surface of soil moisture, irrigation can spread moisture after emergence. The rainy season should make full use of soil moisture ditches and drainage ditches around the fields to avoid causing weak or dead seedlings.

5. Utilization: about 40 days after sowing, cut for the first time, leaving stubble 5cm or so, and when the forage grass grows to the early flowering stage.

Alfalfa is a long-lived forage grass, which can be used for 7-8 years in one planting. It can be harvested 2-3 times a year and produce 37.5-52.2 tons of fresh grass per hectare. For alfalfa harvested during flowering, the dry matter content of fresh grass is 25%, 30%, up to 35%, and the yield of hay can reach more than 75 tons per hectare.
