Pueraria lobata, also known as legume, is a common vegetable in the south, which can be eaten raw or made in soup. in addition, it is also a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, which has the effect of invigorating body to quench thirst, rising yang and relieving diarrhea. it is a kind of crop with high economic value, which is planted all over our country. So how should it be planted?

1. Land selection and preparation

In order to obtain high yield when planting Pueraria lobata, the most important thing is to select a good land, which can be replanted with plots that have been planted with sweet potatoes and soybeans, or sandy soil with deep soil layer and good drainage. Soil preparation began in the middle and late February of spring. During soil preparation, 1000-1500 kg of organic fertilizer per mu and 100,200kg of compound fertilizer were applied and sprinkled evenly on the ground, combined with soil preparation and tillage to make it mix evenly with the soil.

2. Sowing and raising seedlings

Sowing time before and after Ching Ming Festival, soak the seeds in warm water for 24-4 hours, then sow them after drying, which can improve the germination rate of seeds. The hole sowing method is adopted, the hole depth is 3-5cm, the row spacing of the plant is controlled at 30 × 40 cm, sow 3-4 seeds in each hole, cover flat after sowing, and then irrigate once with water, the temperature is controlled as early as 30 degrees, and seedlings can emerge after about 10 days. In addition, in addition to sowing methods, kudzu root can also be propagated by cutting, selecting a robust rattan stem to cut off the head and tail, leaving around the middle part of 30cm as cuttings, mixing wet sand pseudo-planting in a cool place, and cutting holes in the second year. When the seedlings grow shoots, spread 3 leaves, and the length is 5 cm, it can be planted.

3. Transplanting and planting

Transplanting time is generally chosen in early March, when the temperature and climate are conducive to survival after transplanting, choose to transplant in cloudy days, when transplanting, the seedling land will be watered once to keep the soil moist and the seedlings will rise with soil. When transplanting, generally plant 500,700 plants per mu, the plant distance is about 1 meter, put the seedlings on the ridge, dig holes to plant, cover soil 2-3cm, after covering soil should be compacted. After planting, it is necessary to irrigate a thin fixed root water and fertilizer, and pay attention to inspection, timely repair seedlings or inter-seedlings.

4. Field management

If kudzu root is to grow more smoothly, intermediate ploughing and weeding is indispensable. When kudeng grows to 1-2 meters, it is necessary to carry out intermediate ploughing and weeding in time, so that its roots can go deeper into the soil, absorb more nutrients, and prevent weeds from grabbing nutrients. Pueraria lobata has strong resistance to the environment, but it will still be disturbed by diseases and insect pests when planting, especially in the peak growing season, so in order to make its growth strong, it is necessary to do pest control work and use drugs or lime powder if necessary.

5. Harvest

Gegen can be planted and harvested in the same year, and can also be harvested in the second year. Generally, the starch content is the highest from November to December, and the method of harvest should also be paid attention to. Instead of fishing in the water, large tubers should be harvested, leaving some small ones, which can be planted once and benefit for a long time.
