On October 19th, the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Center for International Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) jointly organized the 2015 International Conference on Agricultural Trade policies in Beijing. Aiming at the issue of "how to ensure food security under open conditions", with the theme of "Trade in Agricultural products and Food Security", the meeting conducted in-depth discussions on four topics: the challenges faced by food security, the potential impact of trade on food security, the sustainable growth of agricultural productivity and food security, and related policy implications.

More than a dozen domestic and foreign experts and scholars from the Development Research Center of the State Council, the Ministry of Agriculture, Renmin University of China, Nanjing Agricultural University, OECD, ICTSD, FAO, and others spoke and discussed the above topics at the meeting. Experts from OECD, ICTSD and FAO reported on developing agricultural markets and food security and ensuring the sustainable development of global agricultural markets.

Relevant representatives of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, the General Department of Trade and Agriculture of OECD and the Department of Communications and Strategy of ICTSD delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The meeting stressed that to ensure China's food security under open conditions, we need to pay attention to "how to ensure appropriate imports", "how to enhance agricultural competitiveness and reduce the pressure of internal and external price differences between agricultural products", "how to correctly view China's domestic support policy and its adjustment direction", and "how to build an open policy system".

Officials, experts and scholars from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Grain Administration, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, and Nanjing Agricultural University, as well as agricultural diplomats from some embassies in China, managers of famous Chinese and foreign agriculture-related companies and trade associations, and more than 100 representatives also attended the meeting.
