Cucumber is a common vegetable in China, which is widely used because of its easy planting and low investment cost. Many people also keep their own seeds for planting. How to plant cucumber seeds?

1. Planting time

Cucumber can be sown from January to March in early spring, when the climate is mild and the growth rate is fast, which is very conducive to germination and emergence. Another time is from June to August in summer and autumn, when the climate is cool and pleasant, which is also helpful for the growth of vegetables.

2. Select seeds

According to the local climatic conditions, select the appropriate seeds to ensure good quality, screen the seeds and pick out the dried and damaged seeds.

3. Seed treatment

(1) pre-soaking in warm water: first soak the cucumber seeds in room temperature water for 4 hours, then soak them in 55 ℃ hot water, sterilize and disinfect them for 15 minutes, then remove them and put them into cold water to cool down, and then transfer them to sprouting or sowing. Note is to strictly comply with the technical requirements of the water temperature and time.

(2) seed disinfection: seed disinfection is the most economical and effective method to control many kinds of infectious diseases and insect pests, and it is an indispensable measure to prevent diseases and insect pests at seedling stage. Because the amount of drug used in seed treatment is very small, and it takes a long time to harvest cucumber, there is almost no problem of pesticide residues, so it is also an important measure to promote the use of pollution-free vegetables.

(2.1) seed coating: seed coating agents contain fungicides and insecticides to kill seed-borne diseases and underground pests, as well as trace element fertilizers and plant growth regulators that can promote seed germination and cucumber growth. Now some commercial seeds have been coated before leaving the factory, and the use of such seeds does not need to be sterilized.

(2.2) seed soaking in warm soup: seed soaking in warm soup is a method to kill germs on the surface of seeds by making use of the difference between dry seeds and bacteria in tolerance to high temperature. Put the dried seeds into warm water of 55-60 ℃, stir continuously, and add hot water continuously, keeping the water temperature of 55-60 ℃ for 10 minutes. The temperature dropped to 28-30 ℃ and then soaked the seeds for 4-6 hours. After washing, the seeds were germinated.

(2.3) seed soaking: first, soaking seeds with 72.2% Purek water agent or 25% metalaxyl wettable powder 800 times solution for 20 minutes can control cucumber seedling fungal diseases. Second, 50% Fumishuang wettable powder 500 times solution soaking seeds for 20 minutes can control anthracnose and stem blight. Third, disinfection with 2.5% suspension seed coating agent can not only kill the pathogenic fungi latent in the seed coat, but also infiltrate into the seeds, kill the pathogenic fungi that invade the seeds, and effectively control melon seedling disease, blight and other diseases. Fourth, in order to prevent the seeds from causing viral diseases, the seeds can be soaked in 10% trisodium phosphate solution for 20 minutes. Fifth, soaking seeds in 1 million units of agricultural streptomycin 500x diluent for 2 hours can control bacterial diseases.

No matter what kind of agent is used to soak the seeds, the seeds should be washed with clean water after soaking to prevent the occurrence of drug damage.

4. Sow seeds

Prepare the seedling hole plate, you can mix peat soil, perlite and vermiculite in the same proportion to ensure that it is fertile, loose and breathable, and add organic fertilizer to the bottom. After preparing the soil, pour water into it, sow the seeds on demand, cover it with thin soil, about 0.5-1 cm, and adjust the surrounding temperature to 24-30 degrees.

Generally speaking, cucumber seeds are well planted, as long as the seeds are selected, treated, and then sown on the seedling bed when the weather is good.
