How to plant iris seeds

Soil requirement

Iris is not too demanding for the environment. It can be planted in spring or autumn. Iris does not have high requirements for soil as long as it has good drainage and ensures a certain amount of humidity. Good soil is necessary for some irises that have a short growth cycle. If it is in heavy soil, adding some peat, vermiculite or coarse sand can improve the soil.

Greenhouse control

The temperature of the soil is very important, with a minimum of 5-8 ℃ and a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius. The level of soil temperature will affect the emergence of Iris. The optimum temperature is between 16 and 18 ℃.

Iris is planted in the greenhouse, and the optimum temperature is 15 ℃. The temperature in the greenhouse remained at 18 ℃ for the first three weeks or so. 13 ℃ or at an acceptable low temperature will prolong the growth period and increase the weight of the iris, but the flowers are easy to wither.

In autumn, the greenhouse should have enough light, and the temperature in the greenhouse should be lower to prevent the flowers from withering. Preferably at 10: 13 ℃. Pruning leaves should be considered in the growth stage of plants.

The average temperature of day and night is 20: 23 ℃, and the low temperature is within the acceptable range of Iris. High temperature and little sunlight is an important reason for flowers to wither.

In some areas prone to frost and natural disasters, the breeding process is best in the greenhouse. The growth temperature is better at night. Greenhouses without temperature control should be closed earlier, which will make the night temperature more suitable for the growth of irises. Ventilation should be done as early as possible during the day to prevent damage to irises when the temperature exceeds 18 ℃. Blocking the sun is one of the ways to control the temperature, but the right amount of light should be maintained.

Drainage requirements

Equipped with a good drainage system, water can be used more fully in the soil. This can also solve the problem of salt accumulation caused by lack of water.

The method of fertilizing before planting iris will cause the root of iris to grow slowly. To put it simply, fertilization means adjusting measures to local conditions. Different lands apply different fertilizers. Iris can not use phosphate fertilizer and triphosphate fertilizer. Diphosphate fertilizer can be used.
