Winter tomato is vulnerable to low temperature freezing injury, resulting in fruit damage, falling, causing serious economic losses to vegetable farmers. Therefore, in winter, we must take effective measures to enhance the anti-freezing ability of tomatoes, so that flowers, leaves, fruits do not suffer frost damage, so what are the precautions for the prevention and control of tomato frost injury?

1. Heavy application of phosphate fertilizer

Heavy application of phosphate fertilizer to tomatoes in winter, usually once in 15 to 20 days, 25 grams to 50 grams per plant, can be applied to the soil around the plant after 2 kg to 3 kg of water or mature substances. It can increase the content of phosphorus and potassium of tomato and enhance the cold resistance of the plant.

2. Spraying foliar fertilizer

In winter, tomato can be sprayed with foliar fertilizer, which contains 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 1500 times Shennongsu chelate fertilizer and 5000 times Yunda120 mixture every 6 days or so, and needs to be sprayed to branches, leaves and fruits for about 4 times. This operation can enhance the cold resistance and anti-freezing injury ability of the plant.

Third, add mulch around the plant

When winter comes, tomato fields need to be cultivated, and rotten fertilizers or pond mud should be applied around the plants. it takes about 1 to 2 kilograms of unplanted tomatoes, and cover the border with straw or other weeds with a thickness of 3 to 5 centimeters, so as to stabilize and raise the soil temperature. protect the roots of tomatoes from cold frostbite.

Fourth, the border ditch is full of water

It is necessary to store water in the border ditch of tomato in winter, especially when the tide comes and the frost begins, which can effectively prevent the formation of frost particles at low temperature and better protect the normal growth of tomato branches, leaves and fruits.

Preventing frost injury is an important step in growing tomatoes. Good control effect can not only ensure the yield of tomatoes, but also bring good economic benefits to vegetable farmers and make their hard work rewarding.
