Culture method of Begonia bulbosa
Begonia bulb is a plant of the family Begonia, whose flowers are large and beautiful, with the appearance, color and fragrance of famous flowers such as camellias, peonies and roses. The following is to introduce the culture method of Begonia bulbosa.
1. Soil
Begonia bulb requires that the soil is loose, fertile, well drained and slightly acidic. It can be sifted with rotten leaf soil, peat, river sand or rice husk ash. In order to increase fertility, some base fertilizer can be added.
2. Temperature
Begonia bulbifera likes warm environment, and the suitable temperature for growth is 16 ℃-21 ℃. It is not resistant to high temperature, and it is easy to cause stem and leaf withering and flower bud shedding when the temperature is more than 32 ℃; when the temperature is above 35 ℃, the underground tuber is easy to rot and die; the temperature in winter should not be lower than 10 ℃ to avoid damage.
3. Lighting
Begonia bulb likes the semi-shade environment, but it needs enough light to grow well, but the light should not be too strong. In the summer flowering period, if the light is not enough, the number of leaves and flowers will be reduced, the plant growth will be short, the leaves will thicken and curl, and the leaf color will turn purple. In winter, if there is not enough light, the leaves will grow thin, or even stop growing completely.
4. Watering
Begonia bulb likes a relatively humid environment, but the soil should not accumulate water to avoid rotting roots. In the sprouting and flowering stage, we need to reduce watering; in summer, we need to spray water to increase air humidity; in autumn and winter, plants gradually enter the dormant period, to reduce watering.
5. Fertilization
Applying fertilizer to Begonia bulbosa requires thin fertilizer, some mature and thin fertilizer can be applied every 10 during the growth period, some fertilizer to promote flowering is needed at flowering stage, and no fertilizer is needed in summer and winter.
6. Diseases and insect pests
When begonia bulb meets the environmental conditions of high temperature, humidity and poor ventilation, stem rot and root rot often occur. Moderate watering in the room should be controlled and 1000 times of carbendazim wettable powder should be irrigated regularly. Under the condition of high room temperature, it is vulnerable to aphids, leaf roll moth larvae and thrips, which can be controlled by corresponding pesticides.
