Today, let's talk about the origin of Qinghai wolfberry. In the 1960s, wild Chinese wolfberry was planted in Nomuhong area of Chaidamu, Qinghai. In the 1970s, when Chairman Mao Zedong met with Southeast Asian ambassadors, the gift was Qinghai wolfberry. However, in recent years, the development of Qinghai wolfberry industry is slow, and its popularity is far from what it used to be. The quality characteristics of Qinghai Chinese wolfberry have not changed, in fact, it is much better than Ningxia Chinese wolfberry.

The concentrated cultivation of Lycium barbarum in Qinghai Province is located on the Nomhong-Dulan-Wulan-Delingha line in the southeastern margin of the Qaidam Basin. Because of the unique environment of the plateau, Chinese wolfberry growing in the Qaidam Basin is more often called "Chaiqi". Chaidamu Basin has 10 hours of sunshine, 12 degrees Celsius temperature difference between day and night, rich and unique soil and water resources, and few plant diseases and insect pests, which are all environmental factors suitable for the growth of Lycium barbarum.

Moreover, the Qaidam Basin has high altitude, arid climate, low air relative humidity, low population density, clean ecological environment, no pollution in water and soil, no pesticide and heavy metal residues and other factors. the quality of Chinese wolfberry produced here has reached the highest international standard in the same industry. Compared with Ningxia Lycium barbarum, Chaiqi has larger granules, thicker and fuller meat, bright color, sweet taste, and high contents of nutrients and bioactive components that regulate human physiology. According to Nomuhong Farm, the total sugar content of "Chai Qi" is as high as 53.6%, while the total sugar content of Ningxia Lycium barbarum is 46.5%.
